The above is a motivational quote from William H. Johnsen a personal development author. Think of the power in those 10 little words. Think of their timeliness as we move into this election cycle. There are very few things of which I am certain. I am certain that this year’s election is the most consequential of my lifetime. It is no longer a contest between Conservatives and Liberals. It is a contest between good and evil. I am equally certain that waiting for others to solve our problems is a fool’s errand.
Our lives have been so good, for so long, that we ignored what was happening in D.C. and in our state capitals. We didn’t take the time to verify that those we elected to represent us were actually representing us instead of themselves. We didn’t have time to go to school board meetings to be sure our children were not being brainwashed. We complied when the government shut down every facet of our lives. We were too easily cowed into silence when boys started invading the traditionally safe spaces of our daughters and granddaughters. Like peasants, we waited haplessly for a white knight to appear. Guess what folks, there ain’t no white knight coming to save us. As a “free” people living in a “free” country, it is incumbent on us, you and I, to defend our freedom and liberty. So, what actions can a patriot take right now?
The most obvious is we must VOTE. But we must do more than vote. We must visit our elderly, and sometimes shut-in, friends. In Michigan, absentee ballots will be mailed on 10/21. (Wherever you live, take the time to be sure when ballots are going to be mailed/received). We have a responsibility to check with those conservatives who have a hard time getting to the polls to ensure they have received and returned their ballots. We should contact our elderly relatives and friends and offer transportation to those who intend to vote in person. Remember that older citizens are more likely to prefer to vote in person. Unplanned problems on election day could lead to their not voting. Stay in touch with them.
More urgently, in Michigan, we are looking at just 3-4 weeks before voters will be receiving their mail in ballots and will begin voting. Contact your county Republican headquarters and ask how you can help. Then volunteer any free time you have available. Candidates can always use extra volunteers to go with them to knock on doors. There is always a need for volunteers to work the phones and to put together the information packets that get mailed to voters. No special talents are needed. Just a desire to pass on the freedom and liberty that we enjoyed to our children and grandchildren. If the members of our military have the courage to put their lives on the line to protect our freedom, we can surely spare a couple of hours a week to do the same.
Every day I read Facebook comments from people who whine that elections are rigged. They say nothing will change until the integrity of the ballot box is restored. Somebody must fix it they say. I will no longer allow those comments to go uncontested. I have, starting this week, began to push back. Who do they expect to fix it? The Democrats? Don’t make me laugh. They’ve already fixed it to their liking. If the integrity of our elections is to be restored, it is up to we patriotic Americans, Republican and Democrats alike, to see that it is done. We, especially Republicans, need to rise up and volunteer to work at the polls. There is a simple one page application to fill out. It is painless and free and can be found at your local Secretary of State’s office. When Democrat poll workers outnumber Republican poll workers 10 to one, or more, the opportunity for shenanigans increases exponentially. Please quit complaining and make an effort to do what you can to remedy the problem. Until you do that you are just whining. Get involved and become part of the solution.
Most importantly we have to have serious conversations with other patriotic voters, whether they are undecided Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. (Don’t hesitate to engage people who haven’t voted in a while. They are buying gasoline and groceries). The time constraints mentioned above tell us those talks have to start right now. A couple of quick ground rules: 1. You have no time to waste, so don’t talk to people who insist they have made up their minds. (The Progressive(?) Left for instance. 2. You’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. That simply means don’t be argumentative, or condescending.
To win elections candidates have to capture a growing portion of undecideds. No national candidate will be elected by carrying only his political base. During the Q & A portion of my presentations all over the U.S. I have learned an interesting lesson. Liberals consist of 2 distinct groups. There are Progressives, and Traditional Liberals. Progressives are a hopeless lot, intent on bringing our great Republic to its knees. Traditional Liberals, on the other hand, have numerous beliefs that intersect with those of Conservatives. While having a cordial discussion, it is crucial that we ask probative questions to discover where we agree.
Here are a couple of suggestions. 1. One of the areas where the two major Political Partys disagree is voter ID. We conservatives believe that every American who doesn’t have an ID should be provided one free of charge from the government. And they should be required to provide their ID in order to cast a ballot. Over 80% of Americans, believe this should happen. Dem. leaders have repeatedly fought to prevent voter ID. What do you think? 2. Dems. have created a national security crisis by throwing the doors open on our southern border. We have watched in disbelief as between 8 and 12 million (depending on who you ask) people have entered our country illegally since the Biden/Harris team took office in 2021. Some of them are listed on the “terror watch list”. As for the rest, we have no idea who they are, where they are, or their health status. What we do know is that you and I are going to have to pay countless billions of dollars to feed, clothe, shelter, educate, and provide health care. Are you in favor of continuing this open door policy? If you vote ‘D’ you are saying yes. 3. How do you feel about allowing boys/men to share girl’s locker rooms with your Jr. High or High School daughters and granddaughters? How safe are young girls when they are forced to compete against bigger, faster, stronger, men? Is it fair? More than 4 out of 5 Americans say that boys should not be allowed to compete with/against girls. No matter, Democrat leaders continue to demand that males be allowed to take opportunities away from females in athletic events. If you vote for a Dem. you are saying you agree. 4. The final example is short and to the point. We must ask: Have you been to the grocery store or gas station lately? Did you notice any change in your latest auto insurance bill? Check it against last year’s bill. Have you compared last year’s utility bills against this years? Notice any change? All of these are the direct result of the policies put in place by the Biden/Harris administration, and supported by congressional Dems. If you vote ‘D’ you are giving tacit approval for future price and tax increases.
Lastly, if you can’t/won’t do any of the above you can always write a check. This election is going to be an expensive one. If we are going to defeat the people who have put us in this awful position, we must do what we can to help them get their word out. Money is the grease that helps the wheels go around.
Once again, I thank you for taking the time to read my words. This might be the most time sensitive piece I have ever written. Please consider sharing it with all of your family and friends. The freedom clock is ticking. Bob
Liked the way you worded this.

Excellent.
