In presentations I often ask my audience the following question: How stupid can they be? I typically ask this question after I had made a specific comment about a foolish/idiotic decision made by elected representatives. After a while I stopped asking that question for a couple of reasons. First, because I began to fear politicians were treating it as a challenge. Kind of the politicians version of, hold my beer and watch this. The second reason was that I came to the conclusion that the things they were doing weren’t stupid at all. They are part of a planned scheme. Because they have such contempt for the American people they are comfortable saying and doing whatever they please. They are convinced we aren’t smart enough, or have the courage, to get rid of them. Thus far we have been very consistent in proving them correct.
I’ll start with the purely stupid. Remember, the fact they are elected doesn’t mean they are intelligent. To prove my point Arkansas Senator Mark Lansford Pryor, in a 12/08 interview with Bill Maher, said: “You don’t have to pass an IQ test to be in the Senate.” “When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.” President Nixon said that in a 1977 interview with David Frost. When asked about sending troops to Guam, Hank Johnson, a Georgia House member said: “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.” While visiting the Mars Pathfinder Operations Center in Pasadena, CA. in 1997, Texas House member Sheila Jackson Lee asked: “Has the Pathfinder succeeded in taking pictures of the American Flag planted on Mars by Neil Armstrong in 1969?” Who hasn’t confused the moon with Mars? Michelle Bachmann, a member of the House from Minnesota, said: “. . . the very Founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the U.S.” Really? Next I’ll quote one each from 2 constant gaffe machines, George W. Bush, and Joe Biden. In 2019, during a speech in Iowa, presidential candidate Joe Biden said: “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” I guess Biden believes there are no white kids who are poor. Not to be outdone, on 9/06 President George W. Bush said: “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.” At least he admitted it. I could do an entire book on the foolishly stupid things our politicians say. I’ll close with 2 that I am sure you will remember. In May of 2008, while on the campaign trail candidate Barrack O’Bama was describing his campaign schedule. He famously said: “I’ve now been in 57 states . . . I think I have 1 left to go.” Last but not least, drum roll please, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.” She would have been just as correct had she said so that WE can find out what is in it. It is not possible that any member of Congress had actually read the 3,000 page Affordable Care Act document before the vote was called.
Next I’ll address a less than comprehensive list of things that politicians have done that come off as stupid, but are not. They are thought out and have an end goal in mind. I believe the grand scheme of the Progressive Left is a complete takeover of our country. In order to make this happen it is imperative that a majority of We the People become dependent on the government for our necessities. What necessities has the government been meddling with? Let’s discuss energy. For the first time in many decades the U.S. became energy self sufficient under the Trump administration. This is critically important for a number of reasons. It allows us to avoid sending our kids to war in the Middle East in order to ensure the flow of relatively inexpensive oil. Under the guise of “climate change” President Biden shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline, refused new drilling permits on federal land, and put a moratorium on all drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The edicts had nothing to do with climate change. Think about it. Within months of these closures our President was asking Russia and Saudi Arabia to pump more oil to cover our shortages and help keep the cost of energy down. From the perspective of climate change what difference does it make where the oil is drilled? These actions, not surprisingly, caused the price of gasoline to rise over $1 a gallon in the first 9 months of going into effect. If we have a cold winter the cost of heating our homes will rise an equal amount. Higher energy costs have a more negative impact on lower middle class and poor Americans. There will be a big increase in the number of people requesting heating relief. Those who have been receiving help will need more. The net effect is that more Americans will need help from the government. Precisely!
In March of 2019 the American people, and the greatest economy on earth, were locked down. We were told it would last two weeks so that we could “flatten the curve” and protect hospitals from being overrun by COVID cases. We all understood. That was 18 months ago. We are still under the thumb of big brother. Millions of small businesses have been permanently shuttered. Many millions of entrepreneurial Americans have literally lost their life savings because of the closings. The government has been writing monthly checks to an unprecedented number of U.S. citizens. These obscenely large checks have allowed millions of Americans to refuse to go back to work. The checks put pressure on small employers to pay wages many can’t afford. That causes more of them to close. We have an unprecedented number of jobs available, at the same time we have an unusually high number of people on the unemployment list. All of this nonsense has the effect of creating a growing number of people dependent on government. This is no coincidence.
Those of you following the news know that there is a huge number of container ships waiting to get into port. These ships contain products, parts, and other goods, necessary to get our factories back to work. The ships can’t get into port because there are not enough people to unload them. There are not enough truck drivers to move the products to stores, and ultimately to consumers. These delays create a shortage of goods, which causes inflation. Since President Biden took office, inflation is rising at the fastest rate in over 30 years! Inflation is an insidious tax on the poor. Those of you who do the shopping for your families don’t need me to tell you about how much prices are rising. As necessities like, groceries, medicine, gas, etc., keep going up more people will be forced to seek help. Almost certainly that help will come from the government. As costs go up the government will step in and increase benefits. They will raise the poverty level. That means more people will qualify for government benefits. All planned. Our government explains there are supply chain problems, and a shortage of computer chips. Don’t be confused by all of the rhetoric. We wouldn’t be having these issues if the products we buy were made in the U.S. They are made overseas because our politicians took bribes from lobbyists. They allowed an unhealthy amount of our production to be moved to lower cost, lower quality countries. Over 90% of our life saving antibiotics are either produced, or sourced, in China. China for God’s sake! Who among us, if in Congress, would have allowed that kind of monopoly to be awarded to an enemy? Only a government that needs more people to use it for survival.
We had better pay attention to the plans our government has for changing citizens into subjects. We are a country founded on freedom, personal responsibility, entrepreneurship, and laws. If we allow the government to control our necessities freedom and responsibility will be gone. Entrepreneurship will become extinct as government will control all of industry. There will be a two tiered system of laws. Laws for thee, but not for me. You know kind of what we are starting to experience now. People are starting to stand up against authoritarian school boards. It is time for us to do the same, not just at school, but with our politicians.
