After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was quoted as saying: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” It has been just over a week since Charlie Kirk was murdered on the campus of Utah Valley University. Since then, events all over our country suggest that the Progressive Left (PL) are beginning to understand Admiral Yamamoto’s fears.

Make no mistake, the PL, press/media, our education system, late night talk show hosts, and Hollywood in general, have blood on their hands after the murder of Charlie Kirk. For a decade members of the PL have been calling President Trump, Hitler. They continue to say he is the single greatest threat to our Democracy. They call those of us who voted for him irredeemable, deplorables, Fascists, and Nazis. PL members of Congress continue to tell their followers to harass, threaten, and cajole, leaders and followers of the MAGA movement. The press/media did nothing to push back against these vile tactics. Talk show hosts and members of Hollywood have fantasized about seeing our President dead or thinking about bombing the White House. This is nothing more than a concerted effort to dehumanize us. Once that happens it is not a stretch that mentally unstable people would act on these fantasies. Once we are dehumanized one could understand how, after a decade of this constant drip, drip, drip, from the Left that those who take horrific action might actually think they are patriots. Everyone would love the guy who killed Hitler! All of the above knew their vitriolic verbiage created the possibility of such a horrible outcome. They are all scrambling to lay blame on anyone but themselves. Rational people with a scintilla of common sense know that this violence lays at the feet of the PL and its enablers.

Kirk became a target of the PL because of his steadfast belief in the Freedom of Speech. The PL doesn’t believe in our Constitution, especially the First Amendment. He became dangerous to them because of the success he was having in converting brainwashed Liberal students into educated Conservative activists. For decades, the PL had spent massive amounts of money converting our colleges into indoctrination centers. They trained teachers, many of whom took their indoctrination methods into our public schools and poisoned the minds of our young students. Their plan was working. They owned the young voter demographic until Turning Point USA (TPUSA) took root. Before he was assassinated, Charlie Kirk and TPUSA, one of the organizations he founded, were well known by high school and college age Americans. Since 2008, Democrats could depend on about 60% of the youth vote, age 18-29. In 2024, V.P. Harris received only 52% of that vote. The difference in the historical 60% and the 52% in 2024 is something around 2 million votes. (Young males voted 56% to 41% for Trump). These numbers terrify Dem. operatives.

That was BEFORE Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Take a look at what has happened since. In the time it took for a deranged, delusional, assassin to pull a trigger the whole world new about Charlie Kirk and TPUSA. According to Social Blade, an American social media analytics website, the day before Kirk was murdered, he had 7 million followers on his personal Instagram account. One week later it exploded to 12 million. His TikTok account added 2 million, and his Facebook page gained more than 3 million likes. His TPUSA accounts also took off. Its YouTube account added hundreds of thousands of new subscribers and drew more than 100 million views. Its Facebook page added nearly 3 million followers and Instagram grew by 1.7 million. TPUSA has received tens of thousands of requests to open new chapters in high schools and colleges, and to learn how to get involved. These additions are most likely people who knew nothing about Charlie Kirk or TPUSA a month ago. They are now reading and learning about the mission that he was involved in launching. The old saying that when a tyrant dies his reign ends, but when a martyr dies his reign begins is proving to be accurate in this case.

When heroes die, cowards rejoice. Those people on the Left who are celebrating Kirk’s death are despicable cowards. That they are not intelligent enough to keep their mouths shut creates an opportunity for rational people to identify and remove them from positions of authority. They claim he was a provider of hate speech. The PL defines hate speech as any speech with which they disagree. They say he was divisive, a racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc., all of the things they call anyone who disagrees with them. I saw a few of Kirk’s blogs and dozens of his college campus debates. I never saw him raise his voice to those who disagreed with him. He always had a smile on his face, love in his heart, and an incredible ability to regurgitate an encyclopedia of facts. He gave young people a voice. He provided them, for instance, with the cover they needed to take a stand against males in the locker rooms and off of the athletic teams designated for females. He did more than anyone to make it cool for young people to be proud to be Christians. If you define divisiveness as drawing a clear line between truth and BS and defending truth, then yes, he was divisive.

I can’t come to grips with how any human being can rejoice when another human being is murdered. Whatever his political or religious beliefs were, these horribly evil people seem to forget that Charlie Kirk was a 31-year-old husband, father, and son. He was famous enough that his children will be able to watch videos and read about their daddy. That of course, doesn’t come close to replacing their being held in daddy’s arms. They may be able to read about their daddy, but he will never be able to read to them. Those happy that Charlie Kirk is dead must have a black heart and be lacking a soul.

The young people who have been working with Charlie and TPUSA have been responsible for a gradual increase in political clout. They have carried more than their share of the load in returning our country to its rightful position in the world. They were instrumental in getting Donald Trump elected President last year. Because of the death of their incredible leader, they are experiencing a great tailwind of support. It appears that Charlie’s wife, Erika, is dedicated to keeping her husband’s legacy alive. If you saw her courageous press conference last Friday night, you know she’s very capable of doing so. The energy, fire, and intelligence of the young people at TPUSA may well represent our last, best hope of returning values and morals to a country that for far too long has strayed from them. It is a safe bet that the organization will continue to push forward and grow.

Those of us who have not been involved with TPUSA in the past can no longer feign ignorance. Unless you live under a rock you have at least a rudimentary understanding of what TPUSA is about. If you have a child, or grandchild, who is currently part of the movement make it a point to tell them how proud you are of them. It takes a lot of courage to stand up against the educational indoctrination machine and they did it. If they aren’t currently involved, encourage them to investigate the organization. See if their school has a chapter. If not, find out what is involved with starting one. Then, let’s all of us do the same thing. Get involved with launching a new TPUSA in your local school or provide support for those who do. Let’s not allow this terribly sad event and the tsunami of American support that followed it to be wasted. If not me, who? If not now, when?
