Style Over Substance

I hope those shallow 2020 voters who voted for Biden because they didn’t like Trump’s braggadocio or his tweets are ready for the “unintended consequences” delivered by his replacement. People told me they voted for Biden because they were tired of Trump’s immature tweets. Others said they were bored by his constant bragging and never ending hyperbole. It would seem they pined for a president who wouldn’t do what he promised, but would look good not doing it. We enjoyed 4 years of measurable substantive successes for every American. Intellectual snobs preferred someone who promised the world and delivered unemployment and poverty on the little people. You know, a real politician.

On his first day in office President Biden signed an Executive Order (EO) canceling the Keystone Pipeline project, and all new drilling for oil and gas on federal land in the U.S. The result was the immediate loss of thousands of high paying American jobs in those two industries. President Biden was willing to sacrifice the livelihoods of the pawns to placate the far left greenies in his party. That was a calculated consequence. The unintended consequences, or consequences that our wealthy elites don’t care about, is the jump of more than 20 cents a gallon for gas in the first month since Biden’s Executive Order was signed. Whether gas goes up 20 cents, or 2 dollars, a gallon doesn’t matter to wealthy people. But it really crushes poor people. That high paying jobs have been lost, and poor people are going to have to decide whether to buy food, medicine, or gas for their cars to get to work is secondary. The important thing is we don’t have to listen to any more Trump tweets!

In just 4 years the Trump administration lead the U.S. to become energy self-sufficient. Biden’s signing the above mentioned EO put an immediate halt to that independence. While millions off Americans were negatively impacted there were lots of people who cheered. We will be forced to import oil from countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and other OPEC countries. China, which produces over 90% of the solar panels produced in the world, will be receiving billions of American dollars to produce them for us. America will again be held hostage by foreign countries. Worse yet, we will again be forced to send our kids to die in virtual hell-holes to protect the free-flow of energy. Biden’s decision does harm to tens of millions of Americans while providing funds to countries who want to kill us! What a terrible trade! No sane person would ever make such a ridiculous decision. Idiotic decisions like this could only be made by politicians. Apparently the deaths of a few of our heroic soldiers is a small price to pay for not having to listen to Trump bragging about achieving energy self sufficiency and a few peace treaties among antagonists in the Middle East.

On day one, at the top of President Biden’s list of urgent matters facing the country was allowing boys who identify as girls to shower with actual girls and participate on girls athletic teams. So he signed an EO that requires all schools receiving federal funds to allow students to participate on the athletic team of the gender with which they “identify”. The EO simply states that if a boy identifies as a girl, or vice versa, he must be allowed to use the girls locker room and play on the girls athletic teams. With the stroke of a pen Biden set female rights back 4 or 5 decades! He took away the privacy rights of our children. He removed the opportunity for girls to compete and succeed on a level playing field with other girls. His decision put girls at additional risk for athletic injuries. Children will be irreparably harmed by this foolish act. What is the crushing of a few thousand girls dreams as compared to not having to listen to Trump’s irreverent tweets.

I could discuss pages of examples like the ones listed above. If you are coherent you get the idea. Here we are 4 months after the election, and 6 weeks after the Biden inauguration, and I am still in a bit of a fog. It seems impossible there could be so many voters willing to risk the future of their country because they didn’t like the mannerisms of the existing President. Have we become so shallow that we no longer vote for candidates measured by what they did to improve the lives of Americans? Do we care more today about what candidates promise as opposed to what they provide? Regardless of the metric, Americans just witnessed 4 of the best years in our history. Socio-economic class, or race, didn’t matter. Nearly every American was better off when Trump left than when he entered office. The 2020 election was a sad commentary on the state of the American electorate. After 4 years of Trump’s unprecedented successes that we would remove him from office and elect a dementia addled 50 year resident of the Washington swamp is shameful. The majority of voters chose style over substance and all but the rich and powerful will be forced to suffer his dangerous policies.
