The title of this blog is taken from the Preamble to the United States Constitution. Nobody ever said the USA is, or ever was, perfect. Sadly, there seems to be a growing number of malcontents who think it should be. When their lives aren’t perfect they blame others and demand the government do whatever it takes to make them happy. They threaten to leave the country if their whims are not catered to, or their favorite candidates are not elected. Nothing but empty threats. Lord knows there are a lot of leaders who are convinced that the government IS the answer to the people’s problems. Ronald Reagan, during his 1981 inaugural address said, “Government isn’t the solution to the problem: government is the problem”. He was correct. As our government grows larger and more intrusive, his comments are even more true today.

Compare Reagan’s quote to that of a President who would have liked nothing more than to give the government control over every aspect of the people’s lives. In an October, 2008 campaign visit to Columbia, Mo., candidate Barrack Obama said, ” . . . we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the USA”. No President who believed in the inherent values of his country would feel the need to “fundamentally transform” it. Instead of working to continue the nation’s pledge to create a “more perfect union”, he was responsible for creating the illusion of victimhood for millions of Americans. Quotes like Obama’s come from tyrants who want the government to be omnipotent. But maybe Reagan was wrong. Maybe the government is the answer. Let’s take a look at a few of the solutions our government has chosen in its attempt to solve the myriad problems that were created by, you guessed it, our government.

Lawlessness is running rampant in most of our big cities. Cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and many others, are being overwhelmed with criminal activity. Muggings, assaults, armed robberies, and smash and grabs in retail stores, occur at least weekly in many cities. It is no longer safe for citizens to go shopping. If you live in one of these cities it is unsafe to leave your house. Huge retail companies like Walgreens, CVS, Target, and others are closing retail stores because of the losses they are incurring. Democrats have defunded the police in these cities. Democrat District Attorneys have produced lists of crimes they will no longer prosecute. Those lists often include assault, drug possession, trespassing, prostitution, and resisting arrest. Many have said they won’t prosecute shoplifting if the amount is under $950. Cities and states have passed no cash bail laws that allow thugs to be processed and immediately returned to the streets. Every one of these changes encourage bad people to do bad things. These decisions reward law breakers and foment fear among the general population. None of the above helps to create a more perfect union. It is what Socialists need to instigate change.

Our southern border was secure when Joe Biden took office. That is not true today. Record numbers of illegal immigrants are entering our country daily. The Governor of New York said that10,000 illegals a month entering his city could bankrupt it. We are witnessing that number a DAY on our southern border. Just this week we saw 2 days where that many illegals broke our laws and entered. Many millions have entered our country illegally since Biden took office. Most are unvetted, so we have no way of knowing anything about them. This week we identified 3 cases of Tuberculosis among the illegals. Annually we suffer tens of thousands of deaths related directly to the illegal smuggling of Fentanyl. It is the leading cause of death for young Americans between the ages of 16 and 45. The number of “gotaways” grows by the day. We can’t know how many evil people, with plans to kill Americans, have crossed the border. The unknown hundreds of billions of dollars the illegals will cost American taxpayers every year will be one of the variables in keeping inflation at historical levels. The government’s response to COVID was to completely shut down our lives. But COVID never got bad enough for the government to stop the flow of unvetted illegals into the USA. The response from the President is to assure us the border is under control. If you have eyes you know this is a lie. It would be great IF, instead of failing to fix our problems, the government would stop creating them.

Please don’t forget that when Joe Biden was elected(?) in Nov. of 2020, the inflation rate in the U.S. was less than 2%. Today it is approximately 3 times that number. The price of a gallon of gas was just under $2.00. Today it is nearly $4.00 a gallon. In 2020, the interest rate on a 30 year mortgage was 3.28%. Today the rate is 7.38%, and has risen every month this year. The price of groceries are 20% higher than when Biden took residence in the White House. Inflation, and the rising costs of everything, are self inflicted wounds. Wounds that Biden knowingly delivered on the people he was elected to protect. They were literally created by his energy policies, and a Democrat led Congress bent on bankrupting this great nation. In a Capitalistic nation, prices are driven by supply and demand. When Biden took office we were energy self-sufficient, indeed, we were oil and gas exporters. His first order of business was to close pipelines and reduce permits to produce new oil and gas wells. When the supply of fossil fuels is reduced, and the demand remains static, or increases, the result will always be higher prices. Congress continues to spend money we don’t have. Their wasteful spending will result in even higher inflation and higher prices. Think about this shocking fact. The Washington Standard reported that nearly 80% of all US dollars in circulation today have been printed in just the last 2 years! This is unsustainable, and a path to fiscal ruin. It is a plan that is being fed by Joe Biden and the Democrats. It will help create a more boke Union.

I could add the entire Green New Deal in this discussion. It is too lengthy to include here. It will be covered in a separate blog at a future date.

Progressive Democrats are pushing to complete Barack Obama’s goal of impoverishing the American people, and turning the U.S. into a Socialist state. There are but a couple of ways to convert a nation to Socialism. One is by force. I don’t see that happening at this time. The second is to create fear and enough poverty among citizens that they are driven into the arms of government. Socialism appears, on its face, to be a benevolent system. It has always, without exception, created misery and death for the people it is foisted upon. The only winners in a Socialist system are the leaders of this evil system on their subjects. They have no interest whatsoever in creating a “More Perfect Union”.
