Whether it is a corporate CEO, or a politician, leaders are responsible for making decisions that improve the lives of their followers. It is up to their followers to see that leaders are rewarded when they do the right thing, and punished when they don’t. We followers tend to do the former, but are woefully lax in doing the latter. As is my wont, this blog will be about our political leaders who are refusing to do the right things to make our lives better. I will write about CEOs in a future blog.

One would hope that elected representatives who choose not to make our lives better would at least try not to make them worse. The Progressive Left in the USA continues to relentlessly push to shut down domestic production of fossil fuels. They, along with global elites, strive to electrify the world. They are aware that will result in a reduced standard of living for most Americans. It will mean starvation and death to hundreds of millions of people in poor third world countries. The sad thing is that, even though the far Left ideologues are aware of the dire consequences, they couldn’t care less. As long as they achieve their goal of controlling the population everything else is collateral damage.

At the end of 2019 nearly two thirds of electricity produced in the world was generated from fossil fuels. As of right now, fossil fuels are the cheapest, most dependable, source of electricity generation. Cheap, abundant, electricity drives every economy in the world. Yet, while the demand for electricity continues to grow, most Western governments are hell bent on discontinuing the use of fossil fuels. It is cruel, and those pushing this agenda should be ashamed.

Americans are already being told what kind of cars we can drive. It doesn’t matter that only the well-to-do can afford them. We are told what type of home appliances we can use, and how our lawn and garden equipment will be powered. There is already a shortage of electricity in the U.S. It will only get worse. Therefore, we should expect that, once power companies replace our meters with “smart” meters, the government will be telling us how much electricity we will be allotted each month. That will, in effect, limit our freedom. We will lose the freedom to jump in our cars and drive to visit grandma and grandpa for the weekend. The government line will be that we have complete freedom to choose how we want to use the government allotments. We will be told it is patriotic to stay home and limit our energy consumption for the sake of our country. Of course, because of electricity shortages created by government, the allotments will not be large enough for us to power our governmentally mandated electric needs. We will have to keep our heat lower, and our air conditioners higher, if we want to conserve enough power to heat water for showers or dishwashing. We will have to decide how many hours a day we can have lights on and operate our computers. Get ready to use clothes lines in backyards to dry your clothes. This is all by design. Socialists strive to control every aspect of people’s lives.

Our government, led by President Biden, is denying oil and gas drilling permits, and pipelines, and shutting down cheap coal powered electricity plants at an alarming rate. Because of Biden’s foolish energy policies, electric prices have risen double digits over the last 12 months. That is after a similar rise the year before. Simple supply and demand economics dictates there will be more of the same in the future.

What makes this whole thing even more disgusting is that China is profiting from our idiotic policies. Our government demands we produce more of our electricity from renewable sources, including solar panels. As we continue to close low cost coal power plants, China is opening 2 new coal plants, A WEEK! This gives them a cost advantage in manufacturing those mandated solar panels. Right now about 78% of new solar panels installed in the U.S. are imported from China. This is a monstrous, planned, transfer of wealth from the the good people of the USA to the Chinese Communist Party.

As mentioned above, it is up to us to reward leaders who do our bidding, and punish those who don’t. We have an election coming next year that may decide whether we live free, or under the heel of a controlling government. My faith that we will do the right thing in 2024 is waning. In 2022 we rewarded the Left for the crushing, hurtful, policies they put in place beginning in 2020. Those policies caused real economic, and psychological, harm to millions of unsuspecting Americans. If we repeat that performance by electing a Democrat President and Congress in 2024, we may well go beyond the point of no return. Please talk to your friends.
