Our Founding Fathers recognized the fallibility of human beings, especially human beings in positions of power. They understood the potential for corruption and how it could be exaggerated if those in power were left unchecked. To that end, they divided the powers of government into 3 coequal branches, Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, each with its own set of responsibilities. Over the years, Congress has willingly abdicated many of its constitutional responsibilities to the Executive Branch in order to avoid making decisions that might cost its members votes. It has thus become the eunuch of the 3 branches. We are currently witnessing a mini coup of sorts as Federal and District Court judges are working to usurp the constitutional duties of the duly elected President of the United States. (Imagine trying to captain a cruise ship if its blackjack dealers had the power to change destinations from their tables). Ultimately, and I hope sooner rather than later, the Supreme Court must step in and muzzle these yapping chihuahuas and allow President Trump to continue doing the things we elected him to do.

Our Founding Fathers believed deeply in the necessity of a watchdog to warn the people about government corruption. Their concerns were stated by Thomas Jefferson: “The basis of our government being the opinion of the people the very first object should be to keep that right, and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.” Therefore, as an added safeguard against future corruption, the Founders gave special privileges to the press/media (PM) in the First Amendment to our Constitution. With those privileges came the responsibility to warn the people of corruption in their government whenever or wherever it might appear. While their understanding of human nature was impressive, they apparently didn’t imagine a day when the PM would become a faction of one of the political parties controlling the government.

Perhaps the Watergate scandal in 1972 was one of the last times the PM fulfilled its task of investigating potential government corruption and informing the people of its existence. For most of the last 50 years, increasingly so in the last 20 years, the PM has been complicit in helping the leaders of the Democrat Party create a two-tiered justice system. Rules for thee but not for me. By not investigating questionable government actions and providing a smokescreen of obfuscation for corruption in others, the PM has shed its constitutionally appointed role. While still a dog, it is no longer a pit bull to be feared by evildoers. It has become a Democrat lapdog.

You and I understand that politicians lie. They have done so for so long that we now EXPECT them to lie. What I have never been able to come to grips with is what happened that caused self-proclaimed journalists to move en masse to defend the liars from the Left? Did leading journalistic colleges begin teaching students the virtues of becoming ideological editorialists instead of reporters? What caused Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, the Washington Post journalists who broke the Watergate scandal, to defend President Biden’s cognitive ability until after he was stripped of the Democrat nomination last year? I understand why the White House Press Secretary defended Biden’s mental acuity; it’s her job. But when she said that Biden: “. . . did more in one hour than most people did in a day” she was insulting the intelligence and work ethic of the American people. I don’t understand why “journalists”, all of them, at ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN, would risk losing their integrity by defending Biden’s daily failings. I don’t understand why the leaders of those organizations would pay their talking heads to knowingly mislead their viewers. The chickens have come home to roost, as their ratings are appropriately approaching those of the Cartoon Network.

A perfectly functioning PM would be basking in the glow of the Pulitzers it would have received for getting answers to any of the following questions: 1. Who leaked information about the pending Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade? 2. Who placed the pipe bombs outside of the Dem. and Rep. national committee offices on Jan. 5th, 2021? The FBI knows. So should we. 3. Did President Trump offer security support at the Capitol to Speaker Pelosi prior to the Jan. 6th riots? Were there government operatives positioned on the ground during those riots? Why were American citizens jailed for months on end, sometimes in solitary confinement, without charges being brought against them? 4. Who are the pedophiles in the Jeffrey Epstein black book? We have a right to know the identity of these monsters. 5. What is the backstory on the failed assassination attempt of Donald Trump in Butler, PA. 6. How do many of our members of Congress enter with modest wealth and in ten years become multimillionaires on congressional salaries? 7. Why didn’t the PM sniff out the massive amount of waste, fraud, and abuse, in our government departments and agencies? 8. Who was actually in charge of the largest economy and military in the world over the last 4 years? Who actually gave permission to have the autopen sign Executive Orders and Presidential Pardons? Had the wrong sequence of events occurred at the wrong time, the very existence of our country may have been compromised. These, and too many others to mention, would have been covered by dogged investigative journalists a couple of generations ago.

To add insult to injury, the lapdogs who sat behind their desks and told us that Biden was as sharp as ever, which was no ringing endorsement, are out trying to sell us books explaining why their reporting wasn’t their fault. It is bad enough to be a liar. It is even worse to be a lying hypocrite. These people should be forever banned from every organization that has anything to do with reporting. They are indirectly responsible for the ills brought on the American people over the last 4-5 years. We should all feel sorry for anyone foolish enough to purchase one of their fairy tale books.

When a government is allowed to operate unfettered and without fear of reprisal it is certain that their citizens will pay a dear price. Should that government be a Democracy, or in our case a Republic, it can only end in tyranny. The true existential threat to our “Democracy” comes not from climate change, nor from President Trump. The real threat comes from the lack of governmental supervision. The threat is greatest when the PM refuses to blow the whistle when the government breaks the rules.

We know what we must do to rid ourselves of worthless politicians. If we want the PM to go back to reporting honest news, we must stop buying the product they are selling. We simply must stop watching their networks. When their ratings fall below that of the Cartoon Network advertisers will stop buying ad time. That will force them to either change their ways or go out of business.
