The Gaslighting of a Nation

The term gaslight comes from the 1944 movie appropriately titled, Gaslight. It showcased a husband who was intent on convincing his wife she was crazy. To protect his past secrets he set out to make numerous changes in their house. One of the changes was to constantly change the brightness of the gas lights in their home from bright to dim and back again. When she mentioned what she was seeing to her husband he continued to tell her that she was imagining things. He was nearly successful in convincing her to doubt her own eyes, and her sanity, until a friend saw what was happening and came to her rescue.

The American people are witnessing a similar, but more sinister, gaslighting today involving the 2020 election. Immediately following the election, democrats, talking heads on television news, and the print media, loudly proclaimed there was no voter fraud. Then they changed their story to no evidence of voter fraud. A short time later they changed their comments to say there was no widespread voter fraud. The company line then changed again. The company line became, there may have been a small amount of fraud, but not enough to change the outcome of the election. An article in today’s USA Today used the phraseology “no evidence of systematic, widespread fraud.” What is systematic fraud? How much systematic fraud must occur before it is considered widespread? A total fraud of just 1% would have won Pennsylvania for Trump. With all of the votes counted in Arizona, if fraud existed at a rate of .35% Trump wins. That’s the equivalent of two Dominion voting machines that flipped 6,000 votes from Trump to Biden in Antrim County Michigan! Fraud totaling a mere .25% would have won Georgia for Trump. Similar examples could be made for Wisconsin and Nevada. Every article I have read since the election concerning voter fraud has included some form or other of the following: Trump continues to falsely claim that voter fraud cost him the election. Or: Even though there is no evidence of voter fraud Trump refuses to concede. As recent as last week the Bradenton Herald Tribune couldn’t avoid printing the disclaimer that, “in spite of Trump’s continued claims, no court has found any voter fraud.” Of course they have found no evidence of voter fraud. Not a single court has allowed the aggrieved to present even a portion of what appears to be an avalanche of evidence of the fraud they have accumulated.

Gaslighting could not take place, literally could not happen, without collusion from our “free press”. If the press had done its job, journalists would have been swarming all over states where thousands of signed affidavits were provided by people who claimed to have witnessed multiple forms of voter fraud. Filing an erroneous affidavit is perjury and is punishable as a felony. If true journalism existed, a thorough investigation would have been undertaken by numerous members of the media. They would have chased down complaints from poll watchers who were denied entrance to buildings where vote counts were taking place. They would have asked how poll watchers could do their jobs when required to watch from ridiculous distances. They would have followed up on reports of ballots being trucked in from out of state, and ballots being backdated at multiple post offices. Both of these acts are criminal. A true investigative journalist could have connected the dots. Not a peep from the media. An ounce of journalistic curiosity would have required an attempt at an understanding of the claims of chicanery involving Dominion voting machines. Many of the claims were made by highly regarded professionals in the math and voting security fields. None of these media responsibilities were undertaken. Not one!

They chose instead to tell their listeners and readers that any Trump or republican party claims of voter fraud were unsubstantiated. They decided to tell their customers that Trump was doing irreparable harm to our democracy by demanding that only legal votes be counted. Don’t believe your own eyes they said. Trust us, you didn’t see people taping poster board over windows to obscure people’s view in Detroit. Take our word for it, it is totally normal to see partisans remove multiple pieces of luggage hidden under aproned tables. They said it was not unusual for the partisans to count the ballots contained in the luggage AFTER the press and republican poll watchers were told to go home. These actions meet the very definition of media gaslighting. Media bias has done more harm to our country for decades than either political party.

The list of gaslighting perpetrators is mostly predictable. The democratic party has vested interests in convincing the American people that Joe Biden won the election in a free, fair, and transparent election. First, they filed hundreds of lawsuits across the country making election changes that facilitated the opportunity for voter fraud to occur. They fought to allow people to register on election day and vote the same day. What could go wrong with that scenario? They pushed for ballots to be mailed to every registered voter in many states, whether they wanted them or not. Why worry about the fact that many people no longer lived at the address on record, or in the state, or even if they were still alive? Only those interested in suppressing votes would insist that voter rolls be accurate said the democrat operatives. They demanded that states which required IDs from those who voted in person remove that requirement from those who voted by mail. I wonder if it took fraudsters even an hour to figure out how to game that system? They pushed to allow ballot harvesting. The only legitimate reason for ballot harvesting is to aid in the ability to commit voter fraud. Secondly, they know that Joe Biden will have difficulty governing if tens of millions of Americans think he is an illegitimate President. Thus democrats continue to make the ridiculous claim that voter fraud did not play a part in the election. We mustn’t believe our eyes they said. We must trust them.

The last group that has abetted the effort to gaslight America is the courts. Most Americans believed that when the Executive and Legislative branches of our government failed us the Judicial branch was created to right any wrongs. They were the people’s Mariano Rivera. They were expected to come in and save the lead our Constitution provided for us. Unfortunately when the chips were down the Judiciary failed miserably at upholding its Constitutional responsibilities. One can understand the partisan reasons the democratic party took the route they took. It is not difficult to understand, what with their being in bed with democrats, why all forms of the media chose to use the “big lie theory” to misinform hundreds of millions of Americans. If you believe that Judges and Justices are competent and learned people, like I do, you are left with but one conclusion as to why they refused to do their sworn duty. They are afraid. It saddens me to say, they are cowards. I understand their personal fears, they are after all, human. They watched as attorneys representing the President have resigned because of threats to themselves and their families. They knew that many prestigious law firms refused to represent the President for the same reasons. Those firms recognized a additional threat, losing business if Joe Biden got inaugurated. They understand, probably correctly, that should the election be overturned by the courts, large mostly democrat led, cities would erupt in violence. There is no place in our Constitution that suggests courts must make rulings that take possible future political or social events into account. To uphold the Constitution they must be blind to any potential social ramifications. In an effort to keep themselves safe, and cities from burning, courts simply refused to hold a single evidentiary hearing anywhere. State courts either refused to hear republican requests, or ruled on a partisan basis against them. Courts continue to find procedural, jurisdictional, and other flimsy excuses to not hear critical, potentially future changing, cases. This makes them complicit in the gaslighting of Americans. Their cowardice allows democrats and the press to continue to gaslight. They are free to point out that the courts have seen no evidence of voter fraud. While I understand their personal fears, I don’t understand Judges and Justices willingness to ignore our Constitution. They took a solemn oath to protect and defend our Constitution. If our courts refuse to uphold the Constitution, and bow to pure thuggery, we may as well forget we have one. It is not just this election that lays in the balance. The integrity of future elections will also be affected. If thugs see that their tactics are effective you can bet your last dollar we will be seeing more thuggish behavior in the future.

Had democrats wanted to help their newly elected president gain credibility they would have turned all election machinery over for professional review. They would not have filed a plethora of law suits to keep the American people from verifying the results of elections in multiple states. Alas, they did neither. There is no friend to save us like in the movie. It is up to us to insist that we saw what we saw. It is up to us to fight for electoral changes in the states that will keep fiascos like the 2020 election from being repeated. When we are convinced our votes no longer matter the very basis of our Republic will be gone. Time is running out.

We can’t give up on this election. We need Churchill like people who NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give.
