One thing should be painfully obvious to Americans who love this country. America will not regain its best days if we wait for self serving, power hungry, politicians to act. It will not happen by allowing self serving, fringe, minority groups to drive their personal agendas. It will only happen when/if the muscular silent majority decides to fulfill the role given it by the U.S. Constitution. Our Constitution created the skeleton that is our government. It left it to the people to build out that skeleton with the people we choose to represent us. When the people we choose to represent us don’t do their job, it is incumbent on us to replace them. When we reelect dishonest, incompetent, people with reelection, their continued failure is our fault. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. If our Constitutional Republic is to perform correctly, we citizens must fulfill our responsibility as the guardians of the Republic.
The silent majority needs to recognize there is a difference in civics, and politics. Civics is the discussion of how things are designed to be. Civics addresses the common good, and the will of the people. Politics decides how things will actually be. Politics is all about gaining and wielding power by any and all means. If our Republic is to be saved, the silent majority must understand these differences and stop acting like the 98 pound weakling.
My speaking engagements have taken me all over the USA. I have addressed tens of thousands of people in countless cities. I have met people from all over the political spectrum. I think I was able to impart new information to most of the attendees. During those meetings I confirmed a few things about my fellow Americans. There are a lot of honest, hard working, patriots in America. They want their children and grandchildren to enjoy the freedom and liberty they enjoyed. Most of them believe the greatest nation on earth is headed in the wrong direction. They know the biggest problem we face is a large and growing government moving us ever closer to socialism.
At first glance it would appear that patriots should be able to fix our problems simply by overwhelming the opposition with sheer numbers. And we could if we would. If you remove the 10-15% of the far right, and the 10-15% that is the Progressive left, you are left with 70-80% of the American population. I call this group the silent majority. The problem is that most of the silent majority are not wired to be activists. Most of them don’t like politics. They work to find the time to get involved in politics. They were taught to mind their own business, and to play by the rules. They believe that is what emotionally mature people do. They are not, and don’t want to be, political animals. That puts them at a decided disadvantage against trained activists.
The minority sects exist, indeed thrive, precisely by being the opposite of the silent majority. Those who are trying to indoctrinate our children, erase our country’s history, dismantle our family structure, or get rid of our religious beliefs, etc., are small in number from a percentage point of view. Individually those groups represent no more than a single digit percentage of our population. But they are well organized, well funded, and have no problem being rude and obnoxious. They are trained to get in the faces of their opposition. Insulting and embarrassing their foes into silence is their plan of attack. They have learned that the silent majority doesn’t like confrontation, and they use that weakness as a cudgel against their vastly more numerous silent citizens.
The muscular majority has put too much faith in elections and paid too little attention to what happens in between them. We commit a couple of hours every 2 years to vote. Then we trust our elected officials to do what we elect them to do. We don’t take the time to verify what they claim to have done. We have trusted the foxes to guard our henhouses. Then every 2 years we complain about the fact there are more foxes, and fewer chickens and eggs. Activist understand that politics is a year around proposition. They understand that in order to get what they want they have to stay in the faces of elected representatives, all of the time. When they get what they want, they complain it isn’t enough and push for more. They never stop.
We must begin to commit more time to vetting the candidates we choose to represent us. We have to decide to go to townhall meetings sponsored by incumbents and challengers alike. Where challengers are concerned we have to develop a baseline of their promises. If they don’t do what they promised we must get rid of them immediately. Incumbents have a track record. We can actually check to see how they voted. We must stop believing what they say, and find out what they did. It will come as no surprise when I tell you that politicians lie. What follows are 3 websites you can access to find out if your elected representatives did what they said they would do. To follow your existing members of Congress, go to: https://www,govtrack.us/congress/votes. To follow your existing members of the Michigan Legislature, go to: https://www.michiganvotes.org. To see how representatives voted on issues that are family centered issues, go to:https://www.frcaction.org/scorecard.
It is time for us to make some critical decisions. Is the muscular majority going to stop acting like the proverbial 98 pound weakling? Are we willing to commit more than a few minutes every 2 years to protect our God given freedoms for future generations? Or are we going to allow tiny minorities to continue kicking sand in our faces as they strive to convert the greatest nation on earth to a socialist state? The silent majority has the brute strength to overcome any hurdles that stand in its way. We simply must begin matching the tenacity of the Progressive left. The silent majority must flex its muscles or be prepared to lose its freedom. We are seeing some signs of hope. It is beginning to happen. We must pick up the pace. No more Mr. Nice Guy! It is time to stop complaining and to stand up for what you believe! I hope you found this post interesting and/or motivating. If you did please tell your friends about it. Thank you, Bob
Bib, you’re on target. The GOP State Convention was a display of those that like change and those who think the same old ways. Are you a delegate?
