I stopped asking, how stupid can they get, when it appeared ‘they’ were taking it as a personal challenge! They, of course, are the elitist politicians in our country. It seems that each comment, or decision, these people make is more frighteningly foolish than the one before. When I hear some of their ideas I immediately think of the famous line uttered by irresponsible young people before they attempt something stupid. You know the line. Hold my beer and watch this. When shown on TV, those acts are accompanied by a warning. Don’t try this at home. Most level headed people, capable of using common sense, don’t need the disclaimer. We know better. The difference is, of course, that when the elites do something stupid it is we, not them, who get hurt.
Just today the Biden administration announced a $30 million grant under the title of: Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government. According to the government, underserved communities include black, Latino, Native American, LGBTQ, and others. The grant will fund the distribution of smoking kits that will include pipes to aid in the consumption of “any illicit substances.” Does the government think that supporting addiction in poor communities is serving them? Did Hunter slip this idea to his dad over lunch? Imagine a zookeeper solving the problem with zebras not having enough water by bringing in lions to cull the herd. I support serving the underserved when it comes to food, or access to better education. It is beyond insane to provide the tools necessary to create, or perpetuate, addiction in any community. What could go wrong?
I am not aware of any civilized society ever having sacrificed the wellbeing of its children to protect its adults. Until now. President Biden promised that the majority of our kids would be back in classrooms by the end of his first 100 days. We common folks heard that as a simple declarative sentence. Alas, there is no such thing as a declarative sentence in the world of politics. When the goal wasn’t achieved they moved the goal posts. First Jenn Psaki told us that what the President meant was that the majority of students would back in school at least 1 day a week. Then the President said that what he meant was the majority of K-8 students would be back in class. Neither of those comments were in his original proclamation. The President made one silly mistake. He forgot to ask the major funding arm of his party, the teacher’s unions, for their permission. The unions refused to return to the classroom unless their ridiculous demands, many of which had nothing to do with COVID, were met. After nearly two years of nothing short of child abuse, teacher’s unions are finally allowing children back into the classroom. As recently as yesterday, the President of the American Federation of Teachers, said she would not support unmasked students in classrooms until there was no chance of transmitting the virus. In other words, never. We are starting to understand the harm the last two years have wrought on our children. We will never know the total harm the lockouts caused.
Our government’s top obligation is to keep its citizens safe. In this they are failing us on multiple fronts. Elites are frantic to defend the borders of Ukraine, but they have no interest in defending our own southern border. They are allowing illegal aliens to pour across our borders by the hundreds of thousands, every month. These people are not vetted, they are not vaccinated, they are rarely tested for COVID, and they are shipped all over the country in the dead of night. Sounds like a potential super spreader. If the government was doing its job keeping us safe it wouldn’t have allowed the Chinese to produce, or source, over 90% of the antibiotics we need to stay healthy/alive. If the government cared about our safety, it wouldn’t open prison doors and release hardened criminals back onto our city streets. In many cities District Attorneys are refusing to prosecute a long list of crimes, many of them felonies. Does that keep us safe? It wouldn’t allow male prisoners, who identify as females, to be transferred to female prisons. Again, what could go wrong?
President Biden put together what, I’m sure, he felt were the best minds available to head up the State Dept., the Dept. of Defense, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The three of them, and the President, planned our safe withdrawal from Afghanistan. We were told that America would not leave until every American, and the Afghanis who supported us, were withdrawn. We were told that the Afghan military was strong enough to hold the country for months. Days later the country fell to Taliban forces. If you want to understand the depth of their stupidity consider this. As we retreated into the airport in Kabul, the four geniuses mentioned above, turned airport security over to the Taliban!! That would have been okay but for the fact that 13 of our Marines were killed, at least in part, because of that mindless decision. Six months after our final withdrawal there are still untold hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people who want to leave who are still in Afghanistan. This was going to be the last paragraph until the following news report landed this morning.
As gas prices and inflation go through the roof, the heat is being turned up under the asses of many Democrat asses. So they huddled up and hatched a numbskull response. They propose temporarily eliminating the national gas tax. That tax is 18.4 cents per gallon. We would, theoretically, see an 18.4 cent a gallon reduction in the price of a gallon of gas. The gas tax goes into a trust that helps fund highway construction, and public transit. In 2016 the tax raised over $36 billion. The proposal would require lost funds to be transferred from the general fund. The fact there is no money in the general fund would require more government borrowing which would increase the national debt. That would raise interest rates, which raises the rate of inflation. None of that matters to politicians. They don’t care about actually fixing problems. They only care that it appears they are fixing problems. Millions of Americans are being deeply hurt by the rising cost of gasoline and inflation. The answer to this problem is relatively easy and would begin a permanent fix. Open construction on the Keystone XL pipeline, renew cancelled drilling leases, and reduce exorbitant government fees on drillers that began in the last year. If we produce more domestic gas and oil, the price of both will go down. There is one fatal flaw in this simple plan. It would require politicians to admit they were wrong. They are all loathe to do that. If you found this post interesting, and/or informative, please share it with your friends. This will be my last post until 2/24, as my children and grandchildren will be visiting for a week. Thank you for taking the time to read my words. Bob
Spot on, great read! Enjoy you children and grandchildren. Look forward to your next blog.
I got a warning from Facebook today for posting an article about the $30 million for crack pipes as “mostly untrue.” Nonsense. See my post if you’re interested. The last paragraph was enlightening and I added it to a comment after my post of the article was blocked. Censorship. Ughhh.
I found it. Following up on my recent comment on Bob’s article, here is the last paragraph of the article “fact checked” by Facebook as mostly false.
“HHS says that Biden’s crack pipe distribution plan is ‘blatant misinformation!’ but they don’t deny the report,” he said. “Once again, ‘misinformation’ just means true facts that make Democrats look bad.”
Gotta love it! 😊
Like Reagan said, the scariest words you will ever hear. I’M FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND I’M HERE TO HELP
