Our country needs its traditional Liberals to wake up. If recent events don’t alarm you, you either won’t or can’t be awakened. I’ll keep trying anyway. We are at an inflection point in the discussion of who we want to be as a people, as a society. I have repeatedly made the case that traditional Liberals should not be lumped together with members of the Progressive Left (PL). The beliefs of rational Liberals and those of moderate Conservatives are closely aligned. However, if they continue to vote for every candidate with a ‘D’ next to their name simply because they have a ‘D’ next to their name, they risk becoming complicit in the decisions being made by the PL. These are the decisions that have the capacity to destroy the greatest nation on earth. Albert Einstein is credited with saying: “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them and do nothing.” America needs her traditional Liberals to wake up and get involved.

The PL has highjacked the Democrat Party. This would not have been possible were it not for the complacency of moderate Dems. who far outnumber their PL counterparts. Members of the PL are not ill-advised, confused, or stupid. They are laser focused on creating disruption, chaos and fear among American citizens. Their intent is to destroy the greatest nation on earth and replace it with their utopian vision of socialism/communism. They have been doing so by melding into the Democrat Party. They represent a relatively small portion of the Party, yet when they band together, they are capable of doing serious harm to our Republic. It is a sure bet they will not surrender on their own. The only way to remove them from positions of authority is at the voting booth.

I believe that most of my Liberal friends love our country as much as we Conservatives do. But they seem inexplicably reluctant to recognize how evil some high-ranking Democrats have become. The Democrat Party’s evolution from generally peaceful Liberals to the consistently violent PL is obvious if you take the time to notice. My Liberal friends of today must look around and recognize the current Democrat Party is NOT the same as their fathers and grandfathers supported. JFK would not be welcomed into today’s Democrat Party.

What follows is a smattering of issues that point up major differences in the PL and freedom loving Americans of every stripe. If you are unsure about the direction of the Democrat Party you support, check out this list, then ask yourself if you agree with any of the positions Party leaders have taken.

The central plank of today’s Democrat Party is that Trump and Republicans present an existential threat to our democracy. They make no effort to brag about what is good about them, just that Trump is bad. It is the one constant we have heard from them for the last 10 years. Take a look at the following list of issues and decide for yourself which Party is a threat to our safety, our freedom, and therefor our Republic. (Our form of government is not a democracy).

1. Across this great nation Dems. have marched and politicked for the defunding of the police. How free are we if we are afraid to leave our homes?

2. Dems. have demanded that males be allowed to share private dressing facilities and participate on school athletic teams designated for females. If you are a female, I ask you, how would you have reacted when you were a teenager being forced to undress in front of a male? How could you not support your daughters and granddaughter’s privacy?

3. The PL fights harder to stop the deportation of criminal illegals and gang bangers than for their innocent victims. (Every Republican member of the house of Representatives voted for a bill to deport illegals who commit sexual assault while 145 Dems. voted against it)!

4. Dems. all over the country went apoplectic calling Trump a dictator when he moved National Guard members into D.C. to clean up our crime ridden Capital. Their whining was predictable. So was the resulting nosedive in the number of crimes committed there.

5. Dems. are fighting tooth and nail to get rid of the requirement of showing an ID to vote. They are pushing to allow illegals to vote in our elections. In my home state of Michigan, the Secretary of State has refused to follow the law as it pertains to voter registration rolls. She is doing everything in her power to avoid cleaning them up. Nothing is more important to a properly functioning Republic than an honest election. I can’t imagine any American who believes in our Constitution supporting such nonsense. If you habitually vote ‘D’ you are guilty.

6. Members of the PL continue to foment violence by calling Trump a dictator and a tyrant. They have repeatedly called Republicans Nazis. Now they are threatening the safety of the brave members of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by calling them Gestapo like thugs. Less than stable members of the PL are taking those comments as a call to action to kill perceived tyrants, dictators, and Gestapo thugs. The punk Governor of California just signed a bill that would force ICE agents to remove their facemasks while arresting illegal immigrants. His state is #1 in the country in all of the things you’d prefer to be ranked #50. But when your plans are to be the next President you can’t be bothered with things like homelessness, taxes, a shrinking population, failing schools, putting out fires, reducing crime, etc. It is easier to appeal to your PL base of comrades and unmask law enforcement.

The PL tries to frighten us into believing that it is Conservatives who want to shut down free speech. The facts don’t support that accusation. Censorship by the Left has occurred for years. We can all remember when the Bidens threatened physicians with the loss of license if they recommended treatments for COVID other than vaccines. It didn’t matter that these medical professionals had actually cured patients with other options. We have watched as the leaders of social media platforms recently testified to Congress admitting they had continually censored countless voices from the Right at the behest of the Bidens. Some of us may have forgotten the early 2022 Biden administration’s covert attempt to create the Disinformation Governance Board. (It is possible you never heard of this scandal if you get your information from the mainstream media). Its purpose was to scour the press/media and internet looking for things the government viewed as disinformation. We were basically told to trust them, there would be no nefarious activities undertaken by the agency. If you are honest, you know that trusting the government is a fool’s errand. This agency has an eerie resemblance to the “Ministry of Truth” that George Orwell wrote about in his prescient novel, “1984”.

The PL was outraged when Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by Disney. Yet more proof of Trump silencing those he doesn’t agree with they shouted. Some 400 hollow headed Hollywood elites screamed that Trump was responsible for Kimmel losing his 1st Amendment right to free speech. These people may be good at playing make believe in front of a camera, but you wouldn’t want them balancing your checkbook. (Disney could have instantly quieted the nitwits had it offered to bring Kimmel back if the 400 signees agreed to cover any future losses the show incurred). Kimmel was pulled because of his lack of comedic talent. He had lost more than 50% of his viewers over the last decade and was costing Disney a fortune in lost advertising dollars. The last straw came when he lied about the political ideology of Charlie Kirk’s murderer. For those reasons Disney suspended Kimmel. Kimmel returned after a 4 day suspension, proving that Trump had nothing to do with it. Which is worse, Kimmel’s 4 day suspension, which didn’t take away his right to free speech for 1 minute, or Charlie Kirk losing his life while defending free speech? Even after his death he, his wife, and the organization he founded, are still being vilified by the PL. That they have crossed the line of human decency is of no concern to the PL and their minions.

In case you still don’t believe there is an ideological chasm separating the rest of us from the PL, I offer up a couple of additional points. 1. The killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis spurred mass rioting cheered on by the PL and its followers across the country. Murder, assaults, looting, and arson were recorded in nearly every one of our large cities. When Charlie Kirk was killed there was none of the above. The murders, rioting, etc. were replaced by nationwide prayer vigils. One was a career criminal. The other a devout follower of Jesus Christ. We aren’t the same. 2. After the June murder of the previous Dem. Speaker of the Minnesota House and his wife, the U.S. House passed a resolution condemning violence. The resolution was unanimously approved. After Charlie Kirk’s murder a similar resolution was proposed by the U.S. Speaker of the House. It received 315 yes votes, 58 Dems. voted no, and the most cowardly Dems. who didn’t want to go on the record voted ‘present’ or didn’t vote at all. You’d better believe we are not the same. 3. Dem. members of the PL have nominated a self-declared socialist/communist to become the next mayor of New York City. A long and growing list of Dems. are endorsing him. He is way ahead in early polling, and it looks like he will become the mayor of our largest city. Would traditional Liberals support this? They most certainly would not! But their apathy may result in his being elected. I am asking my Liberal friends to please take the time to review what the people you voted for, or are considering voting for, did. Don’t listen to what they say. Find out what they did. It has never been more important that those who love our country and want to preserve its values for our progeny to sit down and discuss our what unites us versus what divides us.
