Why We Must Be Concerned About The Illegal Alien Situation.

While I’ll not spend much time discussing some of the obvious reasons we must be concerned about illegal aliens, I would be remiss to ignore them. In doing research for this article I found estimates of anywhere from 10 million to 30 million people who are living in the United States illegally. I can’t believe the number is as low as 10 million, but my gut tells me it is probably not as high as 30 million. Whatever the actual number, it is clear that to have multiple millions of people here illegally, many of them dependent on taxpaying citizens, is reckless.

The direct cost of housing illegals is immense. Many states and large cities have prioritized illegals over poor and struggling citizens. (That is one of the reasons why blacks and Latinos voted for Trump in record numbers last year). The lack of low-cost housing has forced many citizens into shelters even to homelessness. New York City estimates it has spent $2 billion just on housing illegal immigrants in 2023 and 2024. Those funds should have been spent on solving the housing crisis for its citizens.

The costs of providing healthcare for the 10-30 million people here illegally are literally immeasurable. We know nothing about the health history of those who come here illegally. We do know that when they get sick, they head to America’s emergency rooms. That increases the already long wait-time for citizens. Most illegals aren’t able to pay for the service. The cost of treatment doesn’t disappear. Hospitals are forced to charge higher fees of those who can pay. Hospitals are reimbursed by insurance companies. Insurance companies pay hospitals with premiums they collect from Americans who pay for health insurance coverage that gets more expensive every year. It is a lose, lose for the American people.

Suffice to say that education costs are exploding. That is partly because of the sharp increase in the number of children enrolled by their illegal parents. It is not just government dollars that are being stretched. Teachers are forced to spend ever more time with children who don’t speak our language. That means they have less time to spend educating the children of taxpaying citizens. It’s no wonder that states like California, with the largest number of undocumented children, are failing. Again, lose, lose.

None of the above are among the leading reasons that Democrats are fighting what they know to be a life and death struggle for political power. The major reason they have decided to flood our country with illegals has to do with voters, elections, and electors. Dems. have held control of the levers of government for the better part of the last 20 years. Their insistence on supporting increasingly ridiculous policies, defund the police, boys can be girls, declaring that requiring voters to present ID before voting is racist, etc., has encouraged Independents to become Republicans and Democrats to become Independents. They find themselves at the proverbial “Y” in the road. They have 2 options. 1. They can admit their policies are too radical for the majority of Americans. That is not likely as it would force them to admit they have been wrong about, well, everything. 2. They could change the demographics of our country by importing hordes of “new” citizens. Citizens they believe will vote for Democrats. With our elections being as close as they have been, imagine how that would change if Dems. were successful in allowing illegals to vote. (They are already allowed to vote in over a dozen U.S. municipalities). If Dems. are correct in their assumption that illegals would vote for them, how many of the 10-30 million illegals would it take to elect Democrats forever? 20%? 10%? While the second option has cost tens of thousands of American lives, and threatens the security of our nation, they apparently decided it is easier than admitting guilt.

In order for their plan to work a number of things must change, or at least not get worse. 1. They must hold out against those who want to require an ID in order to vote. The following 14 states, and D.C., have no ID requirement in order to vote: California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jesy, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. The one thing these states have in common is that they have voted Dem. in nearly every election for a couple of decades. (Just this week, 2 Republican lawmakers in California began a push to require voter ID in that state). No voter ID makes it easier to cheat and harder to catch cheaters.

Secondly, and perhaps most critical, Dems. must fight to keep the GOP from calling for an early census that would NOT allow the counting of people here illegally. This is crucial for the future of the Dem. Party. Currently, illegals ARE counted when we do the census every 10 years. If we were to stop including them in the count, states that are already losing citizens, like California and New York, would receive a double whammy. Because of a continuing exodus of their citizens, those 2 states lost legislative seats after the last census. California and New York are among the largest states in terms of housing illegals. They will likely lose more seats if illegal immigrants are no longer counted. Other traditionally Dem. states like, Illinois, New Jersey, and Washington State, could potentially lose representation in Congress, and the Electoral College. With both the House of Representatives and the Senate split almost equally, Democrats can ill afford to lose more congressional seats. You should expect a tooth and nail battle over this issue in the coming months.

It is imperative that sovereign countries maintain an identifiable, monitored, border. The number one reason for the existence of our government is to protect its citizens. It was largely because of the cavalier attitude the previous administration took toward the safety and well-being of its citizens that we replaced it. We watched as women were raped, assaulted, and murdered. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died because of opioids that were smuggled into our country. We watched as gang members terrorized our cities. All of this occurred while President Biden, V.P. Harris, and Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, looked us in the eye and swore that our southern border was sealed.

Everything is more expensive today because of the 10-30 million additional people who are here competing for a limited number of resources. Wages were kept low because of the abundance of cheap labor and too many unscrupulous employers happy to take advantage of illegals at the expense of citizen workers. This country took an immediate and beneficial U-turn on illegal immigration in the last 6 months. Since Trump took office the number of U.S. born workers increased by 2 million. The number of foreign-born workers declined by 543,000 just since May. Perhaps more important, blue-collar workers saw their wages increase faster than inflation for the first time in 5 years. Illegal immigrants are not the sole cause of our problems. Many of those who come here illegally are doing so to increase their chances of a better life. It is, however, one of the root causes of a lot of our problems and is well on its way to being solved.

Remember that there are legitimate and legal ways to emigrate to the United States……the thousands who do this are welcome. Freedom is freeing!

      Flash,
Those who come here the “right” way are typically welcomed with open arms. I believe the number is something around 1 million a year. No country in the world allows the free flow of people in and out of their country. Nor should they. Bob

Yes, all well said. I just don’t think the last administration had a “cavalier” attitude toward the safety and well-being of its citizens – I truly believe they hate the U.S., its citizens, and they did everything they could to ruin the country and launch a war against its citizens. The intentional destruction of America.

      Shelly,
You make a valid point. Whether they were cavalier, or hate the U.S., the net result is the same. The American people were grievously harmed. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my post. Bob

I don’t believe that they hate our country, it’s just that they love power more
