Random Weekend Thoughts.

I spent the past weekend reading, writing, relaxing, and thinking. I also had the privilege of celebrating my 75th birthday. I say privilege because I know that many people don’t live 75 years. By my side for the 53rd year was the most beautiful, loving, caring, woman I have ever known. We were able to face time with our children and grandchildren. All things said it was a pretty awesome weekend. Life is good. What follows are some of my random thoughts.

I am puzzled by those who fight to grow an already bloated government, while professing to be champions of democracy and freedom. Those capable of critical thinking know that you can have one, or the other, but not both. As taxes and fees increase, those paying them have less freedom because they have less disposable income. We purchased our house in 1987. Until we made our last payment we didn’t own the house, the bank did. Our property taxes are now more than twice what they were in 1987. We are paying nearly as much in property taxes EACH YEAR as we paid for our first house! It came to me that, even after paying off our mortgage, we still don’t own our house. We are still renters. Had we stopped making payments to the bank, it would have repossessed our house. Now, if we stop paying our property taxes, the state will repossess our house. We only changed landlords. There is one important difference. Our rent agreement with the bank was static and had a finite life. The rent we pay the government rises nearly every year and will do so ad infinitum. Property taxes are used to fund our schools. I wouldn’t be so angry about the increases if our student’s mental acuity had increased equally, or at all. Unfortunately, we are graduating students who, if they go to college, increasingly need remedial classes. We are in a lose, lose, situation. We are spending more to educate our children and getting children who are less prepared for their future.

Early last week, a biological male won the female state pole vaulting championship in Maine. This after President Trump had issued an Executive Order (EO) telling states they would lose federal funding if they allowed boys to compete against girls in sporting events. At a Governor’s event held at the White House last Friday, President Trump confronted Janet Mills, the Dem. Governor of Maine. He asked if she intended to comply with his EO. She replied, “We will comply with state and federal law.” When Trump responded, “We are the federal law,” Gov. Mills said, “We’ll see you in court.” My thoughts wandered beyond this silly exchange. I wondered how, if we actually live in a representative form of government, could Gov. Mills take the position she is taking? 1. At least 75% of Americans, including 65% of Dems., want biological males excluded from girl’s locker rooms, and athletic teams. 2. Sexist comment or not, one would think a female Gov. would be inclined to keep the playing field level in order to protect the safety and privacy of female athletes. When she is no longer the focus of attention, don’t be surprised when Gov. Mills begins walking back her idiotic statement. She will comply with Trump’s EO because the people of Maine will demand it.

After writing an entire blog about the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) last week, I read many new articles pushing back against its activities. I must admit that some of them were real headscratchers. Dems., unions, and the press/media, (but I repeat myself) are screaming about the cuts facing government employees. If you exclude the COVID years, in 2024, American workers saw the highest number of corporate job cuts in the last 15 years. More than 750,000 PEOPLE lost their jobs. I capitalized the word people because I struggle to differentiate one job loss from another when it comes to being fired. I don’t think the family of a pipeline worker feels different about their loss of income than a government employee’s family. Where was the outrage?

I am completely confused by some of the positions being defended by government employees. They are giving their employers, us, the middle finger when we ask them to return to their places of work. They act indignant when we ask them to list 5 things they accomplished last week. What the hell, is that too onerous? I was a working stiff all of my life. For most of my career I wasn’t asked, I was required, to file a call report listing what I had done every day of the previous week and what I expected to accomplish in the upcoming week. Repeated discrepancies, or a lack of activity, resulted in follow-up meetings with management. Most everyone reading this article was/is held responsible by an employer. That government employees are insulted they should also be responsible to someone tells you what a terrible lack of supervisory control these entitled miscreants have enjoyed. Sadly, it appears that even the supervisors have been unsupervised! Many of our employees have not been in their offices in nearly 4 years. They are going about their jobs as if they are self-employed. They are not. Speaking as one of their employers, I will not shed a tear for any of the rogue employees who refuse to earn their keep and get shown the door.

Who could’ve imagined that Boston, one of the key cities in the founding of our great nation, would be reduced to its present position? Why would its Mayor risk the safety of her law-abiding citizens by declaring Boston a sanctuary city? Why would the Governor of Massachusetts hang out a welcome sign to murderers, rapists, and pedophiles, by becoming a sanctuary state? Why would they ignore an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) retainer and release a 6-time child rapist into their community? I am not capable of understanding the motivation behind risking the safety of their citizens in order to protect criminal, non-citizen, illegal aliens. I can’t square that circle. Sanctuary cities and states can’t be reconciled with common sense. One thing I do understand. If the honorable(?) Mayor and Governor continue to stand in the way of Tom Homan and his ICE team of patriots, the POTUS must cut off all federal funding to them. One other thing I am sure of, the people of the great state of Massachusetts must take their heads out of the sand. (You can thank me for cleaning that up)! When you include their lying, socialist, Junior Senator, Elizabeth Warren, the state is bereft of intelligent leadership. From the Boston Tea Party to this. (I don’t have the same level of confidence in Massachusetts’ citizens that I have in the citizens of Maine). Our Founding Fathers would be disgusted.

The percent of Americans who perform heavy, labor intensive, jobs has consistently gone down over the years. Why then has the percentage of Americans receiving Social Security Disability compensation increased nearly every year for the last 15 years? Perhaps the new Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr., will have an explanation (and a remedy) or two.

My wife and I would be near the front of the line when it comes to helping the helpless. Neither of us feel a responsibility to provide for the clueless or the shiftless. It is time for our elected representatives to begin removing benefits from those who are capable of working but refuse to do so. I read a statement somewhere that I think is pertinent. I am paraphrasing. It said there are 2 ways a person will be a slave. 1. If he is forced to work without pay. 2. If he is paid without working. Well said.

I am befuddled as to how Dems. continue to claim they are the Party of women. How can they make that claim with a straight face? They consistently fight to allow biological males to shower with and compete against female athletes. That position is unquestionably anti-female. I challenge Tony Evers, the Dem. Governor of Wisconsin, to a debate where he can explain how replacing the term mother with “inseminated person” is anything other than moronic and anti-women. In case you missed it, earlier this week, that is exactly the change in language the Gov. wants included in a bill he is proposing to the state’s legislature. I welcome any “inseminated persons” who disagree with me to let me have it with both barrels. Pity the fool.

What gives? About 6 months ago, V.P. Kamala Harris stole the no tax on tips campaign promise from Donald Trump. The entire Democrat Party roared their approval. Last night the House of Representatives passed a Reconciliation Bill that included the no tax on tips language. Every single House Dem. voted against it. What happened in 6 months to change their minds?

Who would have imagined 2+ years ago that John Fetterman, the Dem. Senator from PA., would be the voice of reason for the Democrat Party?

Finally, I remain baffled as to why we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway.

Thank you for taking the time to read my latest rantings. I hope you found them thought provoking. Bob

Excellent and only truth spoken here! I, too, struggle with the mindset of the left. What happened to common sense?!

      Lynn,
Common sense is on the endangered species list. Neither side has an abundance of it. But it has gone extinct on the Left. Bob

You hit the nail on the head, things have got to get better, sure as hell canโ€™t get worse.
    Happy birthday

Bob, once again you have expressed the same thoughts that most of us are having! My only difference is that all Federal Employees are not lazy and incensed about having to provide the 5 bullets. I retired from the Federal Center in BC, after working to support our warfighters, for 33 years. At the end of my career, I was the supervisor of 28 employees. We all, including me to my supervisor, had to provide production reports that listed what we did weekly that was not captured by computer keystrokes. It was very helpful when filling out performance evaluations and determining those who deserved an award for performance above and beyond. I have been retired 20 years come September, and I still have employees tell me I was the best boss they ever had. Of course, they were the ones who did their job to the BEST of their ability. ALL federal workers do not deserve a lot of the rhetoric that is being tossed about, but some do, and some if them used to work for me! I was never able to fire anyone, but I did make sure they did not receive undeserved promotions or awards.
I did not know you were celebrating your 75th, when I wished you Happy Birthday! 1950 was a great year, as I celebrate mine on August! And my hubby and I have also been married for 53 years, we will celebrate 54 in August, as well.
Keep up the great thoughts! I know I wake up every day with a smile on my face and can’t wait to hear what the new administration will accomplish today!!! I’m sure they are working hard to stop all the lawsuits being thrown at them by liberal judges, but I have faith in the God, who put President Trump back in that position, to help them win these stupid and outlandish legal battles! Thanks for a great article and, if you need more I’ll, I will gladly supply it!!!๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Boy this is an ignorant blog. As a historian I can only imagine what historians of the future will do to explain the current Republican party and its Fox News propaganda machine.

    1. bobwolf

      Roger,
Thank you for your kind comments. If there are historians who are not on a university dole there may still be a few who are honest. If that is correct it will be interesting to see what they have to say about the damage done to our freedom by the Democrat Party and their lapdogs at the Legacy Media outlets. You’ll have to wait for their analysis because you won’t be one of the honest historians that people will want to learn from. Bob

Bob, another excellent blog, since Conny introduced me to your writing in 2024 you have become must read. I enjoyed your reply to Roger Franklin, well done.

Bob, Another excellent blog. Since Conny introduced me to your writing in 2024 you have become a must read. I very much enjoyed your reply to Roger Franklin, well done. Will

      Will,
Thanks for your kind comments and for taking the time to read my thoughts. Through the process of sketching out each idea, doing the research, writing, proofreading and editing, each blog takes multiple hours to complete. It is gratifying to know they are being read. Be sure to tell Conny I said thanks for introducing you to my blog. I read and try to respond to every comment. Responding to Roger’s comment was simple. I often receive questions/comments like his from self-absorbed “professors” at my public presentations. They typically leave wishing they had been better prepared. Bob
