Special Edition Blog Suggested Template Letters

In the blog I posted on 10/7 I exhorted my readers to send emails, letters, and make phone calls, to your elected representatives. I received a lot of emails from readers who said they would be happy to do so, but they weren’t very good at writing letters. Having heard that I decided to prime the pump. What follows are templates that you can use as is, or edit to closer deliver your message. Please use them then share with your family, friends at church, golf or bowling league, poker or bridge club, etc. Send an email and a letter from every voting age member of your family. It is volume that gets elected representatives attention. If you are not able to copy these letters from my blog please send me an email at [email protected] and I will respond with an attachment in my return email. I have also prepared a thank you letter to be sent to Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. If you can’t find the energy to send a letter to our members of Congress, especially after I have prepared samples, please stop posting memes about how worried you are about the future of children, grandchildren, and our country. The first letter is prepared to be sent to Democratic Senators

Senator _____________, I am a voter in the state of _________. Prices of products I buy are getting more expensive every week. I understand there could be a number of reasons why this is happening. One of the reasons is inflation caused by irresponsible amounts of spending and borrowing that begins in Congress. I know too that the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better program being pushed by Democrats, and the President, will add fuel to the inflation fire, causing prices to continue skyrocketing! I am writing to insist that you vote against this ill-timed boondoggle. A no vote will indicate your interest in benefiting constituents, especially those on fixed income. A yes vote indicates you are more concerned about serving your party than the interests of constituents. Your yes vote will also mean that there is no chance I will vote for you when you stand for reelection. Vote no on the Build Back Better program. A voting constituent, Your name Senator Debbie Stabenow Senator Gary Peters 719 Griswold St. Suite 700 Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building Detroit, MI 48226 477 Michigan Ave. Suite 1837 313-961-4330 Detroit, MI 48226 313-226-6020

The second letter is prepared to be sent to members of the House. Representative ________________, I am a voter in your district. A no vote will indicate your interest in benefiting your constituents, especially those on fixed income. A yes vote indicates you are more concerned about serving your party than the interests of constituents. Your yes vote will also mean that there is no chance I will vote for you next November. Vote no on the Build Back Better program. A voting constituent, Your name

This letter is to thank Senators Manchin and Sinema for having the courage to stand against an ill-advised bill and do what is best for America and its citizens. If we are going to threaten bad actors, we must congratulate, and encourage, the good actors. Senator Manchin/Sinema, I do not live in your state. (Unless you do). I will almost certainly never have the opportunity to vote for you. I wish I could. (Unless you can). I am writing to say thank you for having the courage to stand against your party, and for the American people. Every week we pay more for necessities. At times it can feel insurmountable. The $3.5 trillion Build Back Better program will pour gas on an already raging inflation fire. Thanks again for having the courage to do what is right for the American people. Stay strong.
