We Must Stop Accepting Things We’re Told We Can’t Change, And Begin Changing The Things We Can’t Accept.

As we enter a new year, it seems appropriate to reflect on the things we stand for as a nation. Many of us have forgotten, others have ignored, the basic values that have made us different. What follows is a list of the items I think should be included in President Elect Donald Trump’s national New Year resolutions. Or more correctly, in his initial Executive Orders and recommended legislation. Those who simply forgot our basic values, the people who voted for Trump, will support him. Those who chose to ignore our core values, people who voted for Harris, will fight him. There are countless items that need immediate attention. I will be short and to the point on those that are the most urgent.

Nothing is more important than the safety and freedom of American citizens. President Biden has forced wokeness into our Armed Forces. Service members are being trained to use correct pronouns. It would seem to me that there are more important issues facing the Dept. of Defense (DoD). It has fallen into complete disarray under the Biden administration. The DoD receives the largest cut of our national budget. Yet for the 7th year in a row, the DoD has failed its annual audit. You can be sure there is massive waste and fraud in this nearly one trillion dollar department. Our Armed Forces just finished yet another year where it missed its recruiting goals. Unless you count Operation Desert Storm, the greatest military power in the world has not won a war since WWII! It is time for change. There is no place in our military for wokeness. The purpose of the DoD is simple. It is to defend our nation and to kill those who would do us harm. Their success should be measured by preparedness and lethality. Trump needs someone at his side who will fulfill those metrics. He believes Pete Hegseth is that person. It is time for the Senate to get off its partisan arse and vote to approve this patriot.

We know that more than 10 million unvetted illegal aliens, from over 150 countries, have entered the USA over just the last 4 years. Add to that a couple million “gotaways” who are walking around our city streets. Many of them are on terror watch lists. We are a country of legal immigrants, but too many Americans have been murdered, raped, assaulted, and robbed by illegal aliens. The American people are tired of watching illegals receive preferential treatment over citizens. In the sake of national security and citizens safety we must begin deporting illegals with criminal records and those who have been ordered by a court to leave the country. We must simultaneously move, posthaste, to complete construction of the wall on our southern border. The American people have spoken.

The task of deporting illegals will fall mainly on the shoulders of Border Czar, Tom Homan. He won’t take office until 1/20, yet he is already running into roadblocks being put up by leaders(?) from sanctuary states and cities. Some are beginning to wilt under Homan’s relentless tenacity, others from the anger of concerned citizens. When these ideological morons refuse to fulfill their oaths to keep their constituents safe, Trump must do everything in his power to gain their cooperation. That includes, but is not limited to, withholding federal funds until compliance is achieved. We yearn to feel safe in our homes and cities again. No more fooling around with political miscreants. Go get em Mr. Homan.

God blessed the United States with an abundance of natural resources. Included in that abundance are coal, oil, and natural gas, each an essential fossil fuel. Environmentalists have been joined by the Democrat (Socialist) Party in an effort to reduce our use of fossil fuels to zero by some arbitrary future date. Environmentalists dream of a future, fossil free, Garden of Eden. Socialists see a way to gain more control over the lives of the American people. (The California fires are an example of what happens when pie in the sky theory runs head-first into harsh reality). Americans produce these resources in a more environmentally safe way than anyone else. It would seem like environmental suicide for us to reduce clean(er) domestic production while subsidizing it with products from foreign producers who pay little attention to the environment. Everyone knows that the demand for electricity will continue to grow into the foreseeable future. Energy is an essential ingredient of a thriving society. From a national security point of view, and to ensure future economic opportunities for Americans, it is essential that Donald Trump follow up on his promise to: “Drill baby drill”.

On the theme of safety, Trump must reverse the Biden policy that requires every school receiving government funds to allow boys who identify as girls, and girls who identify as boys, to use the bathroom and locker room facilities of their choice. That policy took away the privacy and “safe spaces” created by rooms designated for either males or females. He must get rid of those policies that allow boys to compete on athletic teams designated for girls. Biden’s policies crushed the meaning of Title IX, part of the civil rights law passed in 1972. His policies created an unfair advantage for males. It put females at increased danger of injury while participating against males in female sports. Americans recognize the unfairness of Biden’s policies and want them changed. Fix it now!

It took our government 200 years to grow the national debt to $2 trillion. We now run $2 trillion deficits annually. No matter what you are told, our $36 trillion debt is the gravest threat to our future. Every tool in the President’s toolbox must be employed to reduce our national debt and deficit. There are predominantly 3 ways to do so. 1. The government can raise taxes. While it is counterintuitive, history has proven that when taxes are raised, government revenues actually fall. For that reason, Trump plans to cut tax rates on both individuals and corporations. Congress would be well advised to move quickly to pass the legislation to do so. 2. The government can cut spending. While this would have the most immediate impact, Congress rarely cuts spending. They do pretend. They tell us they have cut spending when what they have done is reduce the amount of their increased spending. So instead of spending $800 billion over budget, they only overspend by $700 billion. They say that is a $100 billion cut in spending. Poppycock! Most of us know better. By creating the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Trump has already signaled that gig is up. DOGE will find hundreds of billions of wasted and fraudulent government spending. That will encourage bureaucrats and members of Congress alike to be better fiduciaries of our tax dollars. 3. We can grow our way out of it. Growth will be a natural byproduct of reduced taxes. When individuals get to keep more of what they earn they tend to spend it. That encourages the production of more goods and services requiring companies to hire more employees. When corporations get to keep more of what they earn they tend to build more plants and equipment, give pay raises to employees, increase dividends, and hire more people. In today’s world, capital is free to move where it is treated best. Low corporate tax rates in the U.S. will encourage foreign corporations to build new production here. All of the above will raise the revenue collected by the government without creating a corresponding problem for us. With the exception of DOGE, Trump will need Congress to come together for the good of the American people. If they drag their feet, we must remind them that we, the people, are in charge.

Step one in taking back our country was completed last November. It will be wasted if we don’t follow through and demand that our elected representatives work to approve Trump’s nominees and to pass legislation approving his policies. I watched as my Senator from Michigan embarrassed himself during his questioning of Pete Hegseth. He will receive a phone call, and follow up letter, from me suggesting he vote for Mr. Hegseth. (I will post a copy of the letter I will send to him on this site, and on facebook). The American people voted for change. Trump earned the right to deliver what he promised. He can’t do it through the use of Executive Orders alone.

I think the swamp will stymie everything DOGE
Will try to do. Trump will do what he can, but the money train is out of control and on full throttle.

      David,
Perhaps it is my Pollyanna attitude. But I hope that when DOGE reports egregious waste, the people will support Trump in his attempts to get rid of it. We have a President who doesn’t have to worry about reelection and a centibillionaire who doesn’t care what people think/say about him. The people Trump is nominating as Cabinet heads seem to be on board with cutting waste and spending. This is our last best chance to gain a modicum of control over our government. If this team can’t start the ball rolling, the end result is a done deal. Bob
