First, I need to restate a fact. The form of government we live under in the USA is NOT a democracy. Too many of those we elect to represent us, people who should know better, continue to use the term. Highly educated “journalists”, who should also know better, continue to use the misnomer. Our Founding Fathers spoke of their distaste for the failings of democracy. I’ll now get off of my soap box and return to the title of this blog. I will use the term democracy in this article because the people I am writing about use it. But you and I know better.

For the last 10 years, leaders of the Democrat Party have warned us that Donald Trump is an existential threat to our democracy. He has been called a fascist, a dictator, a tyrant, and Hitlerlike. All one needs is a rudimentary understanding of history, civics, and a basic ability to surf the web, to understand the absurdity of those comments. The real threats to our democracy are the people who are pointing their fingers at Trump. And the proof is as plain as the nose on your face.

Let’s start with a review of the actions of President Barack Obama. Just this week he took the stage and labeled the Texas redistricting plan, “a power grab that undermines our democracy.” What a bunch of hooey. Obama started his political career in Illinois. While it is not true that Illinois invented gerrymandering, they have clearly perfected it. What a juicy bit of irony when the Dem. state legislators chose to protest the Texas gerrymandering by fleeing there. The nonsense continues. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said her state might be forced to respond in kind if Texas moves forward with redistricting. Her state is so tightly gerrymandered that no Republican has been elected to the U.S. House since the early 1990s. Not one! The punk Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, said that if Texas redistricts, his state will fight fire with fire and do the same. Had he chosen to fight fire with water in January there might not be tens of thousands of Californians without homes. Gerrymandering is a cancer on democracy regardless of which political party is involved. But the rank hypocrisy of Democrats is unbelievable.

Obama’s comments pale in comparison to those antidemocracy actions he took while President. He spied on members of the press/media. In an attempt to get a search warrant, his FBI called Fox News reporter James Rosen a “criminal co-conspirator”. Rosen had never been charged with any crime. Is the government spying on members of the press/media a threat to democracy? You know it is. The Obama administration bullied all forms of media into deleting complimentary Trump news and negative Hilary Clinton news. That is the action of a tyrant. That was child’s play. It increasingly appears that Obama orchestrated what, if true, would make Watergate look like an episode of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. I won’t write much about it today because details are just starting to unfold. But it appears that Obama refused the initial FBI report exonerating Trump of Russia collusion. He then perhaps, ordered the intelligence community to try again. That led to the filing of false reports, lies to Congress, and ruined the lives of many Trump supporters. It appears they bugged Trump’s office and set out to disqualify him from running. When that didn’t work, they did everything they could to keep him from being elected. I can think of few things that fly in the face of a democracy more than a palace coup overseen by the leader of the Party in office against a challenger.

While I could write more about the threats to democracy initiated by Obama, I have decided to spend more time on more recent threats. Nobody in the history of our country has done more to threaten our democracy, and our freedom, than the Biden administration. The last 6+ years have been replete with unquestionable threats to our democracy. Trump has been impeached, persecuted, and prosecuted by power hungry Democrats. He was charged with spurious crimes that took him off the campaign trail for weeks at a time. They tried to remove him from state ballots and disqualify him from running for office. We have come to expect this sort of interference from leaders in Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, etc., but not here in the U.S. These are the actions of power drunk politicians once they understand their policies no longer resonate with citizens. They are frighteningly undemocratic.

Few things threaten the future of a democracy more than the manipulation of its system of voting. Since early 2000 Dems. have worked tirelessly to bastardize our election process. They pushed legislation that allowed people to vote by mail, often without providing any form of voter ID. Mailed ballots were allowed to be counted days after election day. That is an open invitation for fraud. They ignored voting rules put in place by state legislators designed to secure the integrity of elections. They continue lobbying to allow noncitizens to vote in our elections. They took advantage of “ballot harvesting”, a questionable form of soliciting and collecting ballots. All of the above are meant to sow uncertainty and chaos in our system. Fair and honest elections are at the core of our Republic. When citizens doubt the integrity of elections the seeds of unrest, that can lead to dictatorships, are planted.

As Dems. continued to warn us that Trump represented an existential threat to our democracy the Biden administration pushed dictatorial edicts on us. Who could have imagined that we, in the land of the free and the home of the brave, could be forced to stay in our homes? We were required to wear masks if we left our homes. Families were ordered to cancel 4th of July and Thanksgiving celebrations. Snitch phone lines were established for people to call and report neighbors who dared violate those edicts. If you know your history, you recognize these phone lines as being very Hitlerian. We were not allowed to visit our loved ones in nursing homes and hospitals. They were left to die frightened, confused, and alone. The heartbreak was immeasurable. Our Constitution was trashed when our places of worship were closed, and we were precluded from praying together to our God. All the while lottery outlets and liquor stores were allowed to remain open. Our government discharged members of the military and fired law enforcement officers, fire fighters, health care workers, and others, if they refused to take an experimental vaccine. Not a whiff of democracy. Public school students lost as much as 2 years of education when teacher unions convinced the government to shutter their schools. Many of them will never recover that lost time. It should be a warning to all of us that Dems. think these draconian policies further the cause of democracy. If the above represents how Dems. purport to protect democracy, I’ll have none of it.

By early 2024 President Biden had won enough primary votes to represent the Dem. Party in the fall election. Then behind closed doors Dem. leadership removed his candidacy. No discussion, no votes. Then, again without conferring with Democrat voters, they installed V.P. Harris in his place. She had never won a single primary, or a single delegate. This is how leaders of the Dem. Party think democracy works. Doesn’t sound like the way democracy works to me.

What has Trump done to threaten our democracy? Thus far, he has virtually closed our southern border to illegal aliens. He is deporting criminal illegals, thereby making our cities safer. He is in the process of closing the Education Department that has wasted trillions of our tax dollars. Yet since its establishment, our kids have fared progressively worse against their global peers almost every year. Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result”. He would likely concur with Trump’s decision. He has levied long overdue reciprocal tariffs against those countries that have been stiffing the American people for decades. He has banned boys from girl’s locker rooms and bathrooms, and off of girl’s athletic teams. He shepherded the largest tax cut for the American people through Congress. How dare he be so anti-democracy.

Please don’t be fooled by the dangerous gaslighting being done by the leaders of the Democrat Party. President Trump, like the rest of us, is a flawed human being. But he is NOT an existential threat to our democracy. To the contrary, he is the first President in a very long time who is fighting against those who have been chipping away at our freedoms and our way of life. Career Democrats and Republicans don’t hate him because he is a womanizer, or because he misstated the value of his real estate in order to procure a loan. They know he is not going to become a dictator. They are terrified that he will continue to pull back the curtain and expose their corruption. Because he is an outsider, not owing to any of the swamp creatures, they fear he will continue spraying disinfectant on their dirty deals. Trump is not a threat to our democracy, is in the process of identifying the culprits who have been eroding the strength of our Republic. I hope that traditional Liberals will wake up and recognize the above before it is too late.
