The above quote is credited to the Chinese military general and philosopher, Sun Tzu. He is credited with authoring the military strategy titled, “The Art of War”. As too many Americans sit idly by, we are watching his theory play out in real time. You’ve heard the theory about how frogs react to hot water. It posits that if you boil water and drop frogs into it they immediately jump out. However, if you put frogs in a pot of cold water, then slowly turn up the heat, the frogs will remain in the pot until they are boiled. The Progressive Left (PL) is turning up the heat. We frogs, not wanting to believe that anyone could be so evil as to torch their own country, are watching in disbelief. The water is getting hotter. We are running out of time to jump out.

This post is written as a sort of prayer. I am praying that it will help traditional Liberals, Independents, and undecideds, to understand the urgency of the situation facing this great nation. I have countless friends who fall into one of the aforementioned groups. I know from talking with them that they love this country as much as I. For whatever reason we have lost our way. Political parties, and the media/press, have successfully forced a wedge between patriotic Americans. If we don’t take the time to realize who the real enemy is, the fact that we outnumber them hundreds, probably thousands to one, will not matter. The real enemy are the Socialists who comprise the PL. They are literally putting a torch to many of the long held beliefs and morals that made this country the leader of the free world.

Our Constitution was written to protect the freedoms of We the People, and to confine the authority of the Federal Government. The COVID “emergency” was nothing more than a test of the will of the people. That we miserably failed that test had to be gratifying to the leaders of the PL. They were successful at taking away our freedom of religion. There was little pushback from parishioners, or the leaders of the many religions. At the behest of teacher’s unions, the PL kept our kids out of school for nearly 2 years. The Socialists crushed millions of small business entrepreneurs. The PL ended the careers of untold numbers of law enforcement and health care professionals who refused to get vaccinated. I don’t want this blog to be a rehash of government overreach during COVID. I do want to point out that if we allow the PL to put the Constitution aside during emergencies, we should understand that tyrants will declare more emergencies.

In order to flourish, free markets need innovative leaders. They can only exist when citizens have multiple choices in their lives, and are free to make those choices. Over the last 2 1/2 years our Socialist leaders have been painstakingly removing choice from our lives. Effective 8/1/2023, Americans can no longer purchase incandescent light bulbs. Discussions are underway to ultimately ban gas stoves, dish washers, clothes washers and dryers, and furnaces. Just this week, the Dept. of Energy announced it was investigating new regulations that would change the amount of energy consumed by ceiling fans. This seems trivial. But it will put small fan manufacturers out of business. That is just fine with the PL. They know it is hard to herd a million individuals into compliance. It is much easier to control one giant that employs a million people. Don’t be fooled. It has nothing to do with climate change, or energy efficiency. It is all about control and taking decisions away from the people.

How about the ability of Americans to choose the kind of car we will drive? California’s Socialist Governor has signed an Executive Order mandating that 100% of new cars sold in his state must be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. PL President Biden has put forth new emission guidelines that will require up to 2/3 of new vehicle sales be electric vehicles by 2032. The government continues to offer rebates to those who can afford EVs. Even with rebates EV sales are less than 10% of new car sales. Consumers don’t want them. If they were quality vehicles offering real value, rebates wouldn’t be necessary. All of this while the administration is shutting down the production of fossil fuels. Anyone with a working brain knows these mandates are unachievable. That doesn’t matter a bit to the Socialistic D.C. tyrants. Their goal is to drive up the price of gasoline until poor people can’t afford it, and to drive up the price of autos so that only the rich can afford them. They know that people are easier to control when they can’t afford to leave their homes.

Our schools are spending less time on the 3 ‘R’s, and more time pushing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. An increasing number of schools are dropping talented and gifted programs in the name of equity. We are indoctrinating our children with Critical Race Theory. That theory seeks to shame children for their white privilege, and label black children as hopeless victims. Age inappropriate/pornographic books are finding their way onto our public school library shelves. Drag queens are being invited into our elementary schools. A few states run by the PL are allowing public schools to take children’s medical decisions away from their biological parents. They are allowing children to take medications that start the transition from male to female and vice versa, without informing parents. This is unconscionable behavior by the government of a free people.

Socialists are indeed torching the very foundation of our great nation. If we are to stop the march toward Socialism, traditional Liberals, Independents, and undecideds, need to decide if our values are important enough to defend. Is the party with which you identify more important than the future of your children, grandchildren, and country? This is not a fight between the Right and the Left. It is a fight between right and wrong. The PL has launched an in your face attack against the values that most Americans hold dear. Our church, our children, and our freedoms are under direct attack from the Socialist Left. We are at the fork in the road where we must decide right now what our country will look like going forward. The PL is very concerned by the number of us who have already begun standing up for what we love. They know they are significantly outnumbered. The desperation of their all out attack reminds me of a quote from the movie, “A Bugs Life”. Hopper, the leader of the grasshoppers says: “You let one ant stand up to us, then they might all stand up. Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one. And if they ever figure that out, there goes our way of life. It’s not about food. It’s about keeping those ants in line.” While there are already millions of ants leading the way in this existential fight for freedom, there needs to be tens of millions.
