There Is An Immigration Crisis At Our Southern Border.

I am going to start this blog with a quick note recognizing one of my newest, and almost certainly youngest, readers. Had you been reading my blog since it started, you would be more informed about the happenings in our country than your classmates, and many/most of your teachers. Welcome aboard Gabbi. I hope you’ll continue reading my words of wisdom.

Now, on to the topic of this week’s blog. We must stop saying things like: How stupid can they be? The countless harmful decisions being made by our “leaders” are not a sign of stupidity. Illegal immigration has existed through multiple administrations, Republican and Democrat alike, for decades. Our politicians are dishonest people with ulterior motives who stand at a podium and tell us our southern border is secure. As they continue to lie to us, thousands of illegal, unvetted, aliens cross our border daily. Millions of them annually since Joe Biden became our President. The immediate damage to our country, while immense, is but a drop in the bucket when compared to those of the future.

The influx of millions of illegal aliens is having a deleterious effect on the U.S. that will be felt forever. Having said that, we mustn’t ignore the terrible costs being paid by those who are risking their lives to come here. (The Progressive Left tells us weekly that the U.S. is a racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, terrible place. It makes one wonder why millions of people from all over the world are literally dying to come here). They pay, what is to them, a king’s ransom to evil predators promising to deliver them to the U.S. If they don’t have the cash they are forced into the child trafficking, sex slave market, or agree to smuggle drugs for the cartels. That is equivalent to a life sentence. Countless children are separated from their families. It is estimated that 60-80% of females coming here from Central America are sexually assaulted on the trip. Many others perish while making the trip. The Biden administration tells us its open border policy as compassionate. It is actually immoral and evil.

The costs to us, the citizens of the greatest nation on earth, are immeasurable. We are spending a record amount of money registering the tsunami of illegals as they cross the border. We then pay to transport them via bus, or airplane, to cities all over our country. Cities, including New York and Chicago, stood loud and proud declaring themselves “sanctuary cities”. They denounced border states for what they called racist comments when they complained about the mounting cost of handling the inflow of illegals. Their virtue signaling ended when illegals started arriving in their cities. All of a sudden they understood the problem. The snooty, upper crust of American society, who inhabit Martha’s Vineyard, were proven to be miserable hypocrites when an airplane carrying 50 Venezuelan immigrants arrived in their town. It took less than 2 days for the snobs to relocate all of them to a military base. Their yard signs with slogans like: “We stand with immigrants . . . all are welcome here”, became fodder for comedians and an embarrassment to residents.

From a healthcare point of view the costs are incalculable. We don’t know who the arrivals are. We know nothing about their health status. While closing our schools and firing nurses, cops, fire fighters, etc. for not being vaccinated against COVID, we have allowed millions of illegals to enter our country without knowing, or even asking, their vaccination status. We can’t know if they are bringing diseases with them that we have already eradicated here. They will clog emergency rooms and their hospital bills will be paid for by we taxpayers.

Some of the costs are more immediate. Just this week we learned that hotels in New York were evicting veterans, some with PTSD, and replacing them with illegals. That people who have fought, suffered, and sacrificed for our country would be replaced by law breakers is appalling. I would have loved to be in the room listening to decision makers rationalize that decision. Those responsible for such a decision should be summarily removed from whatever position of authority they occupy.

Similarly, we also learned this week that gymnasiums in multiple elementary schools are being outfitted to house illegals in New York City. How would you feel if you learned the gym in your child’s elementary school became home to dozens of illegals, male and female, whom you know nothing about? What could go wrong? You would think a sanctuary city would be better prepared to provide sanctuary. Nobody involved in making that careless decision should be allowed to keep their job!

The total financial costs are unknowable because we don’t know how many illegals we will ultimately have to care for. Our government guarantees healthcare to anyone who shows up at our ERs. We guarantee education for everyone. We will feed the hungry and house the families of illegals. Their presence on job sites will keep labor rates artificially low and will make it more difficult for teenage citizens to enter the work force. The number of U.S. citizens who fall victim to crimes perpetrated by illegals continues to grow.

Finally, it is unconscionable that the “leaders” of our country stand idly by and allow more than 100,000 citizens a year to die from opioid overdoses. We know the majority of the drugs are being manufactured and smuggled over the Mexican border. We know the raw materials for making the drugs come largely from China. Fentanyl overdoses are now the leading cause of death in Americans between the ages of 18-45. Yet our President refuses to close our southern border in an effort to slow this epidemic. How he, and his minions, can sleep at night is a mystery to me.

It is time for Americans to tell our elected representatives to get their act together and do what the majority of us want done. In 1996, a Republican led Congress passed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act. It was signed by President Clinton, a Democrat. It was comprehensive and real bipartisan immigration reform. It proved to be nothing more than Kabuki Theater as the Executive Branch (The President) has basically refused to enforce it. It is time for we citizens to put an end to the immigration showboating from Congress and the President. The laws on the books will go a long way toward fixing this seemingly never ending crisis. People are dying. Lives are being destroyed. Now is the time for us to insist those laws be enforced.

Once again I hope you found my writings interesting and informative. If so, please tell your friends. We must continue to grow our voice if we are to engender real change. Thank you, Bob

It’s a Democrat lie that the problem is Congresses fault. No new overhaul of immigration laws has to pass through congress. All they have to do is enforce the laws already in place. I believe Biden could be impeached on this matter alone. He has endangered the citizens of the country by refusing to enforce the laws already on the books.

      Dave,
I think you are correct on all counts.
