How Did We Get Here?

Decisions have consequences! Those who consistently make good decisions find fewer hurdles obstructing their journey. Those who routinely make bad decisions find life much more troublesome. Usually those individual decisions have little affect on anyone other than those making them. It is altogether different when half of the population elects a dementia addled candidate to be our next President. That bad decision is negatively affecting everyone except the Progressive Left (PL), and blind ideological Democrats.

It is my belief that Joe Biden’s candidacy was the culmination of a lot unusual circumstances. In late 2019, regardless of who the Dems. ran against him, polls were predicting an easy victory for Donald Trump. Democratic leaders watched as Bernie Sanders began to pull away form the rest of the primary field. Leaders knew this put them in a real pickle. The first problem was that Sanders isn’t a Democrat. Yikes! Second, while the party is aggressively moving toward Socialism, they are not quite ready to be fully outed. Sanders is an avowed Socialist. What to do? They decided to get behind Uncle Joe. He’d always wanted to be President. They could sell him as a moderate. (Perhaps the most cruel hoax played on those who voted for him). And when he lost they wouldn’t be ruining the career of a promising Dem. It was time to shift the incredible Dem. machine into high gear. By early summer Bernie was buried, again, and Joe was the man.

By then the COVID virus was frightening people all over the world. Dems. started spewing talking points about Trump’s perceived lack of concern and his lack of action. They said he wasn’t taking the virus seriously. They called him a xenophobic racist when he shut down travel to and from China. The media followed their normal routine and began parroting the Dems. talking points. They created an Achilles heel for Trump. The polls started changing. It was too late for the Dems. They were stuck with Biden. That was bad for the Dems. What followed proved catastrophic for America(ns).

From that point on everything revolved around checking the boxes. Dems. realized they were stuck with Joe. So they started asking what can we do to increase our chances of winning? They knew they needed to keep women, especially black women, in the fold. So they named Kamala Harris as Biden’s running mate. She’s black, and she’s a woman. That checks two boxes. She’s incredibly unlikable, a terrible politician, and not overly bright. Those were secondary considerations to checking off a couple of boxes. It would have been difficult to find a poorer choice to be a “heartbeat away from the presidency”.

Then it got ugly for America. Unbelievably, Uncle Joe won. We have a new Commander in Chief. Being the POTUS is a lot like being the CEO of a gigantic multinational corporation. Only more complicated and critical. A CEO can’t be expected to know the day to day operations in every division of their company. So they take great pains to hire qualified people to oversee each division. They understand that failure to hire the right people could cause their corporation to fail. It is even more important for the POTUS to nominate qualified people to fill cabinet positions. Failure to hire qualified people could cause millions of Americans to go hungry, lose their jobs, receive less than quality health care, or die. Instead of putting together a who’s who of leadership Biden opted just for the who? He decided to continue checking off boxes. Experience and qualifications be damned.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was one of the first people Joe Biden nominated to his Cabinet. One of Mayor Pete’s qualifications for this position was that he agreed to leave the Democrat presidential primary at a critical time during the push to help Biden win the nomination. Another quid pro quo? Soon after his confirmation Buttigieg, and his husband, adopted twin infants. During the worst supply chain crisis in memory the Secretary of Transportation took a 60 day paternity leave. That was not illegal. It was irresponsible. His most important qualification was that he was gay. When he won Senate confirmation he became the 1st openly gay Cabinet member in history. Check!

During his confirmation hearings a year ago, Xavier Beccera said that COVID would occupy the majority of his time. As the Secretary of HHS, Becerra has turned into the invisible man. During the worst Pandemic in a century he has held only a couple of press conferences. He is rarely seen on the podium with the President, Dr. Fauci, and the leaders of the CDC. He is however, the 1st Latino to hold this position in U.S. history. Check!

After Senate approval in March of 2021, Admiral Rachel Levine became the Assistant Health Secretary. It is disturbing that this person was nominated for a position in any department that had the word health in it. It is dumbfounding that the Senate approved her. To accept this position she resigned as the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. In that position she was responsible for directing senior care and nursing home facilities to admit, or readmit, patients with COVID. There is no way to know how many senior citizens died needlessly because of her orders. She managed to spirit her mother out of a senior facility during this time. None of that was important. Her qualification was that when confirmed she became the first openly transgender person to be confirmed by the Senate to a federal post. Check!

President Biden pledged to appoint leaders of government agencies that reflect the make up of our country. It is one of the only pledges he has kept. I could go on, but you get the point. The welfare of America(ns) should always be the number 1 question. Is this person the best person to run this agency? We need to fill these critical positions with qualified people. The questions: Do we have one of those yet, or has there ever been one of those before, should never be discussed. If you’re the CEO of a corporation you can decide to hire your cousin, or your partner in the golf league. That decision only affects your employees and shareholders. When you are the President of the United States putting people in critical positions for the wrong reason affects all of us. The title of this post is: How did we get here? This gives you a glimpse of why we find ourselves in the mess we find ourselves in. It is why I have little confidence we will get out of this mess any time soon. I could point out numerous members of the administration who were chosen for similar reasons. There are a herd who are simply unqualified to do what they were hired to do. Unless President Biden decides to fire some of the people who have not done their jobs, or have done them poorly, there will be no relief for us.

Thanks for your posts! I always learn something.
Consider looking into the round table discussion held last weekend by Sentot Ron Johnson. He hosted a 5 hour discusdion with doctors, sciencetists, and others who have been censoredand and attacked , prevented from treating patients, and much more because they dare to challange the narrative of our “health agencies”. If you are looking at corruption in our government… these agencies are at the top of the
list. This recording is 5 hours long…. But I guarantee you will learn a great deal and quite likely be shocked at the level of corruption. You can find it on Children’s Health Defense or The Highwire with Del Bigtree.
