“We Have Met The Enemy And He Is Ours.” Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry

The above is a quote from Commodore Perry to Brigadier General William Henry Harrison announcing a naval victory in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. It basically said that he had met, and defeated, the enemy. Thanks to the comic strip character Pogo, that statement has morphed into its current rending of: “We have met the enemy and it is us.” For the purpose of making my point in this blog I will lean heavily on the ‘Pogo’ version.

We are now approximately 18 months from what I believe will be the most important election in our lifetime. On 4/25 our dementia addled President declared he is running for reelection in 2024. During his speech President Biden said: “The question we’re facing is whether in the years ahead we will have more freedom, or less freedom, more rights, or fewer.” Wittingly, or otherwise, that sentence cut right to the core of the importance of next year’s Presidential election. The pace with which our President, his Party, and his administration, is taking away our freedoms is breathtaking. That he had the confidence to make such a galling comment confirms Pogo’s rendition of the famous quote. The enemy is us!

Our Democrat President decided to cancel oil and gas pipelines and shut down oil and gas drilling on government land, etc. Those decisions caused a shortage in the supply of energy which resulted in the prices of everything to go through the roof. In the blink of an eye we went from being energy exporters to begging dictators to supply our insatiable need for energy. That had little effect on the wealthy. It altered many of our plans to travel, to be comfortable in our heated/cooled homes, and our ability to afford healthy foods. I didn’t vote for that. Did those of you who voted for Biden know this was going to happen? Are you pleased by the results?

Crime in our large, Democrat led cities, is out of control. Leaders know how to put an end to this craziness. What they lack is the will. First, they defunded police departments. Then they declared they wouldn’t pursue criminals who stole less than some magical amount of merchandise. Next, they halted cash bail for those who were arrested, resulting in criminals being released almost immediately after being arrested. Now, they are telling retailers to hire their own security personnel, and to lock merchandise in display cases. They refuse to address the real problem, and put criminals in jail. You and I know intuitively that this response to lawlessness is a cruel joke perpetrated on poor people living in the intercity. People are not free if they are afraid to leave their homes.

There is no such thing as a society that is both free and ignorant. Our government schools have been indoctrinating our children for a very long time. It is almost impossible to imagine there are lots of government schools in the richest country in the world where not a single student, not one, is capable of doing math at their grade level. That is thousands upon thousands of children. These children are being relegated to a life of misery. That is unconscionable! It is also by design. If Democrats cared about those children they would shutter the Dept. of Education. They would use the tens of billions of dollars it wastes to provide scholarships to help them attend Private and Charter schools. Democrats, pushed by teacher unions, fight to get rid of Private and Charter Schools. They understand it is dangerous to help children gain the knowledge needed to know they are being screwed.

“There is no time in history where the people censoring speech were the good guys.” That is a quote from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. The 1st Amendment to our Constitution makes it illegal for the government to punish, or censor, free speech. That hasn’t stopped it from censoring thought, and free speech, by using “private” entities such as social media, and the press/media. Thanks to his purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk has systematically provided proof of their collusion with government. Whether you call it voter fraud, or voter manipulation, the last 2 elections were replete with provable examples. Thank you Elon for your efforts to preserve what I feel is the most important freedom we have, the freedom of speech.

I could continue with many other examples of our government’s assault on our God given freedoms. If you care about what is happening to our freedom the above should suffice. If you aren’t moved by what I have listed I can’t imagine that providing another batch would make any difference. Your silence, and lack of involvement, is no longer acceptable. You don’t need to start a blog, or go out on the speaking circuit. You don’t even need to donate money to any cause. You DO need to have conversations with friends and associates about what is happening to our freedom. You DO need to start attending town hall meetings held by elected representatives. You DO need to call them out when they don’t follow through on campaign promises. You DO need to write letters, send emails, and make phone calls, to tell your representatives of your desires. It is time. It might be that 2024 will be our last chance to remove those socialistic Democrats intent on replacing the power of the people with complete government control of our lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my latest blog. I hope you found it interesting and informative. If you did please tell your friends about it. Bob
