Since announcing his candidacy for the presidency, Joe Biden has said on several occasions that “America is in a fight for its soul”. A month before the 2020 election, President Trump said basically the same thing. For once, the leaders of both political parties are making accurate statements. The people of this great nation have been asleep at the switch for far too long. The American people were busy dealing with their daily lives. We foolishly trusted that our government was doing our bidding. We know now that it wasn’t.
One definition of liberty is: The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. One definition of tyranny is: Cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control. Given those definitions it becomes obvious why they can’t coexist. Our Founding Fathers, having seen tyranny first hand, were steadfast in creating a form of government that would be controlled by the governed. It worked wonderfully for nearly two centuries. The last few decades have witnessed an attempt by the Progressive Left (PL) to “fundamentally change” the greatest nation on earth.
Make no mistake, there is an ongoing battle for the soul of our country. The battle started totally bloodless as the PL infiltrated higher education, and the entertainment world. Nobody noticed. Next was the conversion of our government bureaucracies. Finally, the PL is attempting to take its toxic message to K-12 government schools. None of this could have occurred without the help of the “free press”, and a sleeping, apathetic, populous.
We have arrived at a point where Americans must choose what the future of our country will be for future generations. The battle lines couldn’t be clearer. Traditionalists will choose to honor the values, ideals, and principles, that our country was founded on. The values that allowed the USA to become the freest, most prosperous, nation in history. We can continue to believe in personal responsibility, a merit system that rewards individuals for their hard work and success, and keeps government out of our daily lives. Or we can choose to follow the PL’s efforts to completely take away our freedom.
We traditionalists believe that people should be the ultimate arbiters in how we live. That government, and its laws, exist to protect citizens from those who would violate, or try to remove, our individual rights. It is our belief that citizens of our Republic are the masters of it. We believe that our individual, God given, rights are paramount to any edicts made by the government. We believe in a rule of law that is blind to race, social, or economic status. We believe in the right to private property and the unencumbered, voluntary, exchange of goods and services. It is our belief that the way to prosperity is through hard work, and inventiveness. In short we believe in creating wealth.
Now to contrast those views with the tenets of those who hate what America stands for. Those who believe that Americans would be better off being wards of the state. I’ll call them the elitists. Elitists believe that citizens are incapable of making their own decisions. They believe that people are better off when the government (them) are masters of the people. They typically don’t believe in God, or any superior being. They won’t allow any power above or beyond themselves. It is their belief that any law that keeps them from doing what they want. or doesn’t make them feel good, is unjust. They believe the purpose of the law is to discriminate, to create privilege for a few. They claim they are capable of insuring equal outcomes for everyone. To do so they rob Peter, those who are productive, to pay Paul, themselves, and others who are not productive. They do not believe in private property. In fact they believe that property and all forms of production should be owned by the state. They believe it is the responsibility of the government (them) to decide who will win, and who will lose. Where we believe in creating wealth, they believe in confiscating it.
Put another way, our country is in a life and death struggle between good and evil. It reminds me of an old Cherokee legend titled: Two Wolves. An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he told the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil-he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good, he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside of you-and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
In the context of this article it should be obvious as to which wolf is good, and which is evil. We feed the wolf of our choice not through meditation, or through prayer alone. We feed the wolf of our choice through knowledge, involvement, support, and action. The elitist history is full of misery, despair, and the deaths of tens of millions of people who did nothing other than to disagree with them. It has never succeeded, ever! In the final analysis, American traditionalists believe in liberty in their souls. Elitists believe in tyranny. In that the two cannot coexist, only one wolf will survive. It is up to us, those who believe in liberty, to see it is the good wolf. Start doing your homework now so that you will be ready to vote for those candidates who believe in liberty too. I hope you found this post interesting and informative. If you did please tell your friends about it. Thank you, Bob
