“It’s not the people who vote that count. It’s the people who count the votes.” Joseph Stalin

We must not allow the electoral process in America to be corrupted further. We have a responsibility to insist that election laws be written so as to ensure elections are free, fair, and transparent. We must then demand that those laws be followed exactly. That’s what free people living in the most successful Republic in the history of the world must do. It is not indicative of a free people to allow political elites to set election laws for them, then alter those laws at their convenience. Those are the actions of weak pathetic sheep.

This is not a partisan issue. It doesn’t matter if you are a democrat or a republican. What matters is how much you care about the future of our country. It is a matter of whether you love your country more than you hate Donald Trump. It is a matter of whether you believe the greatest nation on earth needs to be totally changed. The integrity of our election process is the cornerstone of our Constitutional Republic. It isn’t enough that our elections are free, fair, and transparent. It is also essential that the American people perceive them to be free, fair, and transparent.

Honest people know that voter fraud exists in America. Those same people understand there is nothing we can do to completely eradicate it. We can however put an end to those practices that facilitate its growth. We must understand the Federal Government has no authority to set election rules in the states. The Constitution gives that responsibility individually to each state. That makes it easier for We the People to affect change. The first change we must demand is defining when our elections end. Citizens must demand the passage of laws that mandate that the closing of their polls means the election is over! If you arrive at the polls in person after they have closed you are not allowed to vote. No excuses. The same should be true for any ballot that is mailed. The date of the postmark would thus be irrelevant. If you choose to vote by mail the responsibility of getting the ballot in by the time the polls close is yours. If you are not sure there is time for the ballot to be delivered by mail you should deliver it personally to the location stated on the ballot. Everyone knows the date of Federal Elections years in advance. Simply stated, no vote will be counted after polls close in each state. We must start contacting our state legislators tomorrow to begin the process of making this change to our state laws.

Next we must pass laws that allow for just two kinds of voting, in person, and by absentee ballot. No more blind mass mailing of ballots to people who don’t request them. Absentee ballot requests must be limited to a very few specific reasons such as disability, hospitalization, travel, and military deployment. It is instructive to understand the difference in an absentee ballot and ballots mailed to everyone listed on voter rolls. When ballots are mailed to a registered voter states are able to track the number outstanding. Absentee ballots require a written request signed by the person requesting it, along with proof of their identity. When the voter returns the ballot it is not legal unless it is signed again by the voter. So there are two signatures that can be used for verification purposes. That gives them the ability to know the whereabouts of ballots, and a modicum of control. When ballots are mailed wholesale to everyone on existing voter rolls the state loses control of who has voted and who might yet vote. Because there is only one signature required the state necessarily finds it more difficult to find out if the person who voted under the name of John Doe is actually John Doe. It is also significantly more difficult to identify those who may have voted multiple times. Judicial Watch has identified millions of people who are erroneously kept on voter rolls all over America. These include the names of people who no longer live at their listed address, or are deceased. They have identified hundreds of counties where there are more people listed on voting rolls than there are people of legal age to vote! Judicial Watch has successfully sued multiple states for not keeping their voter rolls updated as required by Federal law. We must make it illegal for any public official to unilaterally mail unsolicited ballots to registered voters listed on outdated voter rolls. On this topic we must allow states to begin counting absentee ballots as they arrive. It is embarrassing that we are still counting ballots a week after the election ended. If we start counting when ballots arrive it will reduce the opportunity for fraud and increase our chances of maintaining the integrity of the election.

We must insist that every citizen attempting to vote show an acceptable form of photo identification. There simply can’t be many Americans who do not possess a photo ID. For those who do not, our law should mandate that the state provide one at no cost to those requesting them. It is not rational to think we can maintain the integrity of our electoral system without such a simple fix.

We must put an end to the practice of “ballot harvesting”. It is unconscionable that many states allow paid activists to go door to door collecting ballots. These people can be involved in gathering blank ballots from mail boxes. They can ‘help’ elderly, and infirm, people fill out their ballots disposing those ballots that vote against their candidate. They might pay poor people to sign blank ballots that they finish later. There has already been elections effected by this scurrilous form of voter fraud. A North Carolina Congressional election in 2018 was voided because of ballot harvesting. While we are outlawing this idiotic practice we must also stipulate how, and who, can return ballots for voters. The list must be very short, immediate family members only. In order for anyone to return a ballot for a family member that person must have a signed letter from the voter declaring their approval. They must also sign an affidavit swearing how they are related to the voter. They must also be limited to no more than one such instance. Ballot harvesting has voter fraud written all over it. It is a cancer on the face of our Republic and must die a swift death.

Finally we must get serious about the severity of penalties for committing voter fraud. If you hear someone state there is no evidence of voter fraud in the U.S. you should ignore everything that person says. The Heritage Foundation maintains a website where they have identified well over 1,000 cases of voter fraud that have been successfully prosecuted. It is a near certainty that undetected cases dwarf that number. While it is disturbing to view the list, it is shocking to see the penalties fraudsters receive for their crimes. The vast majority of these criminals receive only probation and a small fine. This sort of treatment does nothing to deter voter fraud. If we believe the right to vote is one of our most important rights we must get serious about penalizing those who would steal that right from us. When found guilty of voter fraud one must expect a heavy fine, months in jail, and the loss of their voting rights.

Our elected representatives have consistently turned their backs on their constituents pertaining to free and fair elections. Please join me in starting the movement that will put We the People back in charge of our country. It starts by returning integrity to our election process. We have it within our power to do so. Patriotic Americans, regardless of their political affiliation, want nothing less. My next post will include a number of letters that you can use to contact your elected state officials.

Bob, when my mother no longer drove we went to the SOS and she got a Michigan ID for $5. Photo was taken and put on the ID. Five bucks is very affordable.

      Mike,
Thanks for the comment. Most people can afford $5 but for those who can’t the state should pick up the fee. Please keep reading and commenting. Bob
