Everyone expects changes to be made whenever the party in control of the White House changes. A complete overhaul of a predecessors policies however, is unprecedented. In the first 3 days after his inauguration President Biden signed 30 Executive Orders reversing many of President Trump’s policies. In fact Biden signed more Executive Orders on day one than Trump, Obama, and Bush, combined. No time was taken to evaluate the effectiveness of the policies he reversed. If they were put forth by Trump they were assumed to be bad. Whether feckless, or by design, let’s take an early look at the results of some of our new President’s decisions.
Even before he took office Biden’s decision making ability should have been questioned. Choosing a running mate is something that deserves a great deal of thought. It is a very important decision. Even more so when the presidential candidate is 78 years old, and feeble of body and mind. As everyone knows, the V.P. is a heartbeat away of becoming the leader of the free world. The decision to name Kamala Harris suggested that Democrats couldn’t care less about the well-being of the United States, or the American people. It just so happens her nomination conveniently checked off all of the appropriate boxes. She would be the first black female to become V.P. in U.S. history, and she is the perfect mouthpiece for the Progressive Left. Democrats love being the first to do things, competence be damned. Now the Left is worried that nobody likes her. Hell, nobody liked her before. She ran nearly last in every primary, including in her home state of California, before dropping out of the presidential race. Harris is a concern to her party, and a danger to our country.
President Biden nominated, and the Senate confirmed, Four Star Admiral Rachel Levine to the head of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health. This position oversees the nation’s public health policy. He becomes the first openly transgender person to be confirmed by the Senate. Senator Schumer called the confirmation, “another historic milestone”. Historic yes. But should he have been confirmed? Should he have even been nominated to any position with the word health in it? He was the person in Pennsylvania responsible for the policy that forced nursing homes and elder care facilities to admit, or readmit, people who had had COVID. Approximately half of the COVID related deaths in PA. were attributed to these types of facilities. That alone should have disqualified him regardless if he was a transgender, or a Martian. What is even more galling is the fact that, in the midst of his nursing home orders, he removed his mother from one such facility. To nominate, then confirm, such a person indicates a clear case of tone deafness, and ideology, among our elected officials. But it was a first.
And the firsts just kept on coming. Pete Buttigieg was nominated to take the position of Secretary of Transportation. Unlike Admiral Levine, whom I criticized for making deadly decisions, Buttigieg didn’t do anything. Literally! Nothing! His resume was that of the failed Mayor of a small midwestern city, and as a former candidate for President. His key credential was that, if confirmed, he would be the first openly LGBTQ person to hold a permanent Cabinet position. True to his history, after being confirmed, Pete disappeared for nearly two months. Pete and his husband announced the birth of twins they had adopted. Congratulations. Of course, as with any parents, he was entitled to 2 months of paternity leave. He was certainly due that leave. He didn’t do anything illegal. What is wrong with what he did is that he took the leave in the middle of a supply chain disaster that still threatens the U.S. economy. One would hope that those who brag about being “public servants” wouldn’t disappear in the middle of a crisis that is costing the public billions of dollars in increased costs caused by the failure of transportation. Especially if that public servant was the Secretary of Transportation!
We have the first totally blind person in charge of the Department of Homeland Security in Alejandro Mayorkas. While we watch hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants streaming across our southern border every month, he continues to tell us, with a straight face, that the border is secure. I chose the adjective blind as opposed to lying, because regardless of the Cabinet position, it’s way to late to be the first liar. We have the first Barney Fife impersonator as the head of the Department of Justice. Merrick Garland chooses to ignore the thievery taking place in retail stores all over our country. This thievery is costing retailers, and ultimately consumers, multiple millions of dollars. He instead chooses to assign FBI teams to investigate domestic terrorists, also known as concerned parents attending school board meetings. Only Barney Fife could get it this wrong! I could mention other firsts that have been brought to us by this President. But I want to leave you with a first that I hope we won’t forget. That is the first U.S. President to abandon American citizens, leaving them in the hands of murdering butcherers.
The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was clearly a case of mass, almost unimaginable, fecklessness. President Biden, Secretary of Defense General Lloyd Austin, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, and Secretary of State Tony Blinken looked more like the Keystone Cops than the Keystone Cops. These clowns removed troops from Bagram Air Base before they removed civilians. Unbelievable. President Biden said, “The likelihood there’s going to be this Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.” Within days of his comments the Taliban controlled nearly the entire country. On 8/19 Biden said, if necessary we would leave armed forces in Afghanistan after his 8/31 withdrawal date if there were American citizens trapped in the country. On 8/30 the last of our troops were removed. They left hundreds, probably many thousands, of Americans behind, and at the mercy of Al-Queda and the Taliban. The fact that we didn’t/don’t know how many is telling. We gave the Taliban sole responsibility for security at the Kabul airport. Thirteen brave American service members, and scores of civilians, lost their lives because of that decision. In an attempt to show the world we were not to be trifled with a drone attack was launched. The target was thought to be ISIS-K terrorists attempting another bombing. It turned out to be 10 civilians, perhaps as many as 7 of them, children. Tragic. Every aspect of the withdrawal was a debacle from beginning to end.. All the while the people in charge of the withdrawal, those mentioned above, spent more time shifting responsibility than they did in planning it. While a lot of people lost their lives due to extreme bungling, not a single person lost their job. I take that back. Marine Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Scheller lost his job, his insurance, and his pension, because he dared aver that somebody needed to be held accountable for the debacle.
This mission should have been the ultimate gimme for the new administration. Everyone, on both sides of the aisle, wanted us out of Afghanistan. It would have been a great way to launch the Biden presidency. All he had to do was oversee an orderly withdrawal. He, and all of those he chose to support him, couldn’t do it. Terrified Americans are still in Afghanistan. Their lives are surely in peril. The administration hasn’t mentioned them since we withdrew.. I hope we never forget. I hope you found this post informative, and thought provoking. If you did please tell your friends about it. Thank you, Bob
Great informative blog as usual. Thanks for the thought provoking truth and read!
Bob. you are spot on. Biden has surrounded himself with halfwits. As I am sure you know, two halfwits do not make a wholewit.
BTW, I miss you at the Club.
Gary, Thanks for your comment. It takes multiple hours to produce each post. It is encouraging to know somebody is reading them. I really like the 2 halfwits don’t make a wholewit comment. I had never heard that before. I will use it in future writings, and in upcoming speeches. I miss the club. I am playing less golf than I would like. Please continue to let me know your thoughts on future posts, and tell your friends about it. Thanks again, Bob
