The time is fast approaching when every American who loves this country, and its values, must stand up for what they know is right. For decades socialists with their nihilistic views have continued to slowly eat away at the morals of the greatest nation on earth. Perhaps we drew a red line at how far we will be pushed in last November’s election. But don’t be fooled. The Progressive Left (PL), socialists continue to find new ways to erode the values that stood the test of time since our founding. Our justice system is under siege by the PL who would use it to take away our freedoms. They believe in the “rule of men”, not the “rule of law”. They have given us no reason to believe they will stop. If we have drawn a red line, it is up to us, you and I, to defend it. No free people can be secure in a two-tiered “rule of men” justice system.
In a recent poll, 90% of Americans are in favor of deporting criminal illegal aliens. Another poll says that 60% are in favor of deporting all illegals. Donald Trump was elected, in part, to rid our neighborhoods of the worst of the worst. Deporting illegal aliens presents a direct threat to the future electability of the PL. Recognizing the potential loss of voters, they are resulting to “judge shopping”. That means they are taking cases to judges they know are sympathetic to their cause. Those judges have ruled that each deportee must receive “due process” before being deported. Imagine how many years it will take to give each of the 10-12 million illegal aliens, who arrived just while Joe Biden was in office, their day in court. There is a “due process” for entering our country legally. If you choose to waive it, you shouldn’t expect to invoke it on your way out.
Their rulings have morphed into the absurd. A judge recently ordered that a confirmed member of the murderous MS-13 gang be returned to the U.S. He is also an alleged human trafficker and wife beater. This goon had his plea for asylum denied by a court, twice, and was ordered to be deported. In other words, he had his day in court. Members of the PL, desperate to remain relevant are now flying to El Salvador to “return this Maryland man home.” Maryland man my a**. Here’s how my brain interprets this nonsense. I can imagine a surgeon, after hours of surgery on a patient who arrived unconscious, (us), holding up a diseased kidney, declaring we have removed the cancer (gang member) and saved the patient. Then a judge bursts into the operating room demanding the surgeon put the cancerous kidney back into the patient because he hadn’t signed a letter consenting to the surgery. Self-serving congressional nitwits should recognize that justice has been done and that this vicious gang member IS home. They should be pleased that American citizens are safer because he is.
Due process? Where was the uproar from the PL when hundreds of American citizens were locked in D.C. jails for months, some of them in solitary confinement, after the J6 riots? Many of them were denied a hearing or any chance to answer charges that were eventually brought against them. A lot of lives were ruined because of mostly innocuous activities in and around the Capitol Building on that infamous day. (Contrast that with the deaths caused by rioters, arsonists, and looters, in most of our major cities and the charges brought against them after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis). Where does the Constitution provide more rights and protections for illegal aliens than it does for citizens? Or for Liberals versus Conservatives? Those of course, are rhetorical questions.
The PL has weaponized our system of justice. Consider the following incidents. In May of 2023, Daniel Penny, a white Marine veteran was charged with second degree manslaughter. Penny put his military training to use when he put a chokehold on a black man who was threatening riders on the New York subway. Penny could have ignored the lunatics threatening actions. He could have ignored the incident entirely. In choosing to protect complete strangers, like he did when he joined the Marines, he put his future in peril. He did the right thing. The white on black incident fit the PL and media narrative perfectly. It was just too juicy to ignore. He should never have been charged. (The good news is that the jury showed better judgment than the prosecutor, and the charges against Penny were dropped).
Our judicial system is at the mercy of prosecutors and district attorneys responsible for deciding who will and won’t be charged with criminal behavior. Those positions are logical entry points for dark money and those who would undermine our way of life. A perfect example occurred recently in Minnesota. A state employee was filmed doing over $20,000 in damages to at least 6 Tesla autos. The PL prosecutor, elected in large part because of George Soros donations, chose not to bring criminal charges against him. This man was caught on tape doing felony level damages to Teslas. His penalty is restitution to the victims. An attorney friend of mine, you know who you are, suggested a sentence to include restitution, a letter of apology to the Tesla owners, and serious community service hours. Had this vandalism occurred when Elon Musk was still a darling of the Left, this vandal would surely have seen jail time. If you think his sentence is correct, something is blind, but it isn’t Lady Justice.
PL prosecutors and district attorneys around the country have published different lists of crimes they will no longer prosecute. The most unbelievable is the non-prosecution of up to $950 in shoplifting from businesses. This allows thieves to ransack the livelihoods of businesses and their owners without fear of prosecution. The list includes, but is not limited to, driving without, or on a suspended license, trespassing, being under the influence of a controlled substance, public intoxication, and resisting arrest. While I don’t pretend to be a Constitutional lawyer, I am pretty sure prosecutors and district attorneys are elected to enforce ALL of the laws passed by the Legislature. In other words, we elect them to protect us. It is the criminals who are protected at the expense of law-abiding citizens when these laws are routinely ignored.
If we are to defend an imaginary red line we drew last November, we must pay particular attention to which judges are rendering ridiculous rulings and vote them out of office. We must ask where candidates running for the positions of prosecutor and district attorney receive their campaign funding. If it is coming from sources outside of our local communities, if they produce a list of crimes they won’t prosecute, we must defeat them at the polls. We must attend Town Hall meetings prepared to ask the hard questions of those candidates who will be looking for our votes. We must insist on knowing their position on issues that are important to our lives. Don’t allow them to wiggle out of answering your question. Demand an answer. At the end of the day, we must understand that there are bad actors lurking among our elected officials and new candidates. They are not shy in trying to undermine our ways of life. We must be just as bold in our attempt to preserve the values that have separated us from the rest of the world. There is an old saying that I find accurate. It says: We won’t always get the government we want. But we will get the government we deserve. We must become more aware, then make our voices heard.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope you think it was time well spent. Bob
