Now that Super Bowl LIX is behind us, it is time for every American to focus on the Transparency Bowl. The opponents in this battle are the Patriots and the Stealers. Unlike the Super Bowl, the Transparency Bowl will have life altering consequences for many Americans. Its outcome will change the amount of funding available for government programs, both foreign and domestic. Of equal importance, it may result in a reduction in the amount of money the government will pilfer from our paychecks in the future. The Patriots understand the government is lazy, inefficient, even corrupt. It can’t be fixed by working around the margins. They know it will only be remedied by striking at the heart of the beast, the Stealers.

Let’s take a look at the combatants. First, we have the Stealers. The Stealers have a large roster of highly educated players. They include current members of Congress and the countless thousands who preceded them. Some are guilty of nothing more than willful neglect, turning a blind eye toward wasteful spending and voting for bills that allow that spending to continue. Others are guilty of dereliction of duty while sitting on oversight committees and not questioning expenditures. Others likely laundered our tax dollars through a government agency into their own pockets. They also have a strong bench consisting of thousands of unelected bureaucrats. These are the people who actually issue the wasteful, often fraudulent, checks. Combined, these two groups have for decades proven to be an impenetrable force. We may never know for how long, or to what extent, this combo has been scamming the American people. Since being elected, President Trump proclaimed a winner take all confrontation. The Transparency Bowl. Given the work being done by the Department of Government Efficiency, (DOGE), we have a chance to quantify, and put an end to, the Stealers’ misdeeds

Measuring the depth and breadth of the Stealers’ hypocrisy is much easier. The Stealers are currently whining about an unelected government staffer, Elon Musk, having access to the personal information of the American people. Yet, every one of the government departments and agencies being audited by DOGE is led by, and staffed with, unelected bureaucrats. An unelected Dr. Fauci shut down the entire U.S. economy in 2020-21 without a peep from the Stealers. Back in April of 2021 the Stealers floated a bill called the American Families Plan. (Terrible misnomer). The plan would have required financial institutions, including banks, to report all personal and business transactions exceeding $600 to the federal government. The Stealers don’t have a problem with unelected people viewing personal information, as long as it isn’t theirs. In 2022 the Stealers, in this case all Democrats, passed the Inflation Reduction Act which allotted $80 billion to hire 80,000+ new IRS agents. They were happy to let these unelected agents loose on the tax returns of the American people. The hypocrisy is glaring.

The Stealers are being opposed by the Patriots. For decades the Patriots knew something was amiss. Every year they are forced to pony up ever greater amounts of their paychecks, only to result in larger government deficits. On January 20th a new “coach” took the helm of the Patriots. Previous coaches had promised to root out waste and fraud in the government. This new coach did more than promise. He created an audit team he called DOGE. Then he set them free to find and report government waste, fraud, and abuse. In its first couple of weeks in existence DOGE identified tens of billions of wasteful or fraudulent expenditures. It began its search at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Its list of questionable disbursements appears to be long and alarming. Next, DOGE found numerous cost savings at the Dept. of Education. It is now setting its sights on the Dept. of Defense, remember $500 toilet seats, Social Security Administration, and Medicare/Medicaid. DOGE claims to have found a 150 year old American who is still receiving SS checks! It is a safe bet they will find hundreds of billions of dollars of waste and fraud in these three departments. The Patriots’ roster consists of those Americans who want to see a smaller, less wasteful, less corrupt, more efficient, government. At last count, that includes more than 80% of the American people. It grows with every protest sponsored by the Stealers.

Which team to support? The Stealers are holding rallies where their cheerleaders, probably actual stealers, seem to be saying: Protect our kickbacks. Help us stop the Patriots from exposing government waste and fraud. Keep your hands off of our wasteful government. We must shoot the messenger before he can deliver the message. It seems an undefendable position to me. Then there are the Patriots. They are people hell bent on reducing the size of government. I have seen reports of the existence of over 400 government agencies! There is no chance that all of them provide a service needed by Americans. DOGE is promising it will recommend the abolition of those that don’t.

The Stealers are slowly beginning to recognize their positions are untenable. These people’s view of the world is upside down. They are furious at the team identifying government waste and fraud while defending those who waste our money and commit fraud. Contrast that with the view of the Patriots who believe they have a right to ask where their tax dollars are being spent.

In an effort to keep his promise of reducing the size of government, the Patriots coach offered a very generous severance package to 2 million Stealers if they choose to resign or take early retirement from the federal government. He froze government spending, including loans and grants. The Stealers immediately shopped for, and found, friendly referees (judges) to protect their fiefdoms. A referee decided the coach doesn’t have the authority to offer a severance package to employees, and employees don’t have the right to accept a plan that may be in their own best interest. A different referee ruled that, even when the coach finds wasteful and fraudulent government spending, he has no authority to stop it. But the Patriots coach has thrown the red flag requiring a review (appeal) of the referee’s biased decisions. Every day the appeal process drags on, is a day the Stealers will be able to hide, or erase, their transgressions.

For the first time in history, the team that is losing is playing a prevent defense. They have done so because they are worried that DOGE won’t stop after auditing our bloated, wasteful, government. They are terrified that when DOGE is finished with this audit it might begin investigating them. How people earning $200,000 or less a year in a government job can become multimillionaires in just a few years is a question many Patriots have been asking for years. I am one member of the Patriot team that says fight on DOGE.

We will never have a better chance to stop the waste and fraud that is rampant in our government departments and agencies. The American people must continue supporting the efforts of the Patriots.
