80% of Americans Say The Country Is On The Wrong Track.

In a January 2023 NBC poll, 71% of Americans said the U.S. is on the wrong track. In 8 of the previous 9 NBC polls, the number was at least 70%, the one exception showed 68%. This pessimistic attitude has only grown stronger since. A July 2024 ABC/Ipsos poll found that 80% of those Americans polled think that: “the country is spiraling out of control”. Honest Americans are not surprised by these and other polls showing similar results. What is disappointing is that there are 20% of Americans who think what we have suffered through for the last 4 years is the right track. The ultra-wealthy have done very well under the Biden/Harris (BH) administration. But they don’t make up anywhere near 20% of our population. The only other group that has done well over the last 4 years are illegal aliens. In that the polls were taken among registered voters, they shouldn’t be counted in that 20%. That means there are a lot of people who put their ideology ahead of their common sense. These people would rather doom their children and grandchildren to a deprived life of socialism than to vote for a candidate they don’t like.

Many of the crippling decisions foisted on the American people by the BH administration have been documented in some depth in my last few blogs. Therefore, I will mention some of them briefly this week. 1. Reducing production of domestic oil and gas caused the price of gasoline, both regular and diesel, to skyrocket to historic highs. (Although gas prices have come down recently, they are still about 60% higher than when BH took office). 1a. Higher diesel fuel costs immediately impacted farmers. They require diesel fuel to operate their tractors. The fertilizers they use are petroleum based. They were left with the lesser of 2 evils, both of them inflationary. They could continue to fertilize at previous levels to maintain bumper crops, or they could use less fertilizer and produce smaller yields. Either way, our food supplies had to go up in price, and they did, to the tune of over 20%. 1b. Truckers, the people who pick up and deliver our food, and most other products we buy, saw their fuel costs more than double. Those fuel price increases were passed on directly to consumers, us. There are hundreds of products we use on a daily basis that are petroleum based, or their packaging is petroleum based. The increase in the cost of oil forced all of these products to go up in price.

The BH decision to stop enforcing the sanctions Trump put on Iran has had the direct result of funding terrorism. When Trump left office, the Iranians reportedly had less than $10 billion in cash, barely enough to run their country. Today, thanks to their new-found ability to sell oil, they have somewhere near $100 billion in cash on hand. It is not a coincidence that terrorism activity in the Middle East has exploded. The deaths and hostage taking of citizens by Hamas on October 7 of last year, as well as the deaths that have followed in the war, are the direct result of that shameful, idiotic, BH decision.

The BH immigration policies facilitated the unprecedented surge of something north of 10 million illegal aliens into our country. Along with them came 100,000 deaths per year caused by smuggled opioids. Countless young children have been swept up in child sex trade. And the feckless BH administration has misplaced, LOST, over 300,000 children who came to America unattended. Americans are being murdered, raped, assaulted, and robbed, by the worst of the illegals. Customs and Border Protection reported that during the first 3 1/2 years of the BH administration they recorded 1.6 million gotaways. That is more than they had documented, 1.4 million, during the previous 10 years, COMBINED! What if just 1% of those gotaways are here to kill Americans? That is 16,000 people. Do you remember how many terrorists were involved in the 9/11 terrorist attack? If my memory serves me correctly there were 19 of them. The #1 task of the President/Vice President of the U.S. is to keep citizens safe. The BH administration is failing miserably at this vital task. My God, this is unforgiveable.

BH are in favor of allowing minor children to go through hormone blockers and sex change operations. They are in favor of allowing boys/men to undress and shower in facilities designated for girls/women. They support allowing boys/men who are bigger, stronger, and faster, to participate on the same athletic teams with and against girls/women. They believe that women should have the right to terminate a pregnancy any time up to delivery. Kamala has repeatedly stated her aversion to fracking, funding the police, and gas-powered automobiles. She has been steadfastly in favor of getting rid of personal health insurance in favor of a single carrier, the U.S. Government. All of that was true until 70 days ago when she was handed her Party’s candidacy for President. Now she refuses to say what her policies are, or to explain why she has changed her views, if she has.

It appears that this year’s “October surprise” will not surprise most Americans. Two weeks ago, Hurricane Helene devastated many southeastern states. Perhaps the hardest hit was North Carolina. I have regularly referred to Democrat leaders as Marxist socialists. Their responses immediately following the hurricane is more like what we might expect from the Marx brothers. The Director of the Dept. of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas (Groucho), immediately said that FEMA didn’t have enough money to last the entire hurricane season. President Biden (Chico) wasn’t sure what storm he was being questioned about, and V.P Harris (Harpo) was busy fund raising in California. The 3 were able to marshal their forces and rush(?) FEMA people to N. Car. in a week. They committed $750 in initial funds to those who filled out forms and qualified for the windfall amount. Then on 10/5, Harpo, er I mean Kamala, pledged $157 million of additional funds to the people of Lebanon. She said they are “facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation”. There is no thinking person, politician or otherwise, who would have made this brain-dead, tone-deaf comment on the heels of our domestic tragedy. Apparently, she fears she is losing Michigan and hopes to gain support from its large Muslim contingent. What the hell is wrong with leaders who pledge money to a foreign country then suggest that Congress will have to be called back into session to approve additional funding for FEMA?

There seems to be a real disconnect between what the American people want, and who they want. 80% of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track. The vast majority of us believe we should take advantage of the abundance of fossil fuels that God made available to us. The vast majority of us want to see prices for everyday goods, including food, become more affordable. We overwhelmingly believe that boys and girls should use separate bathrooms, locker rooms, and participate on separate athletic teams. The majority of us believe that women should have the right to an abortion, but an even greater majority think that they should come with limitations. A huge majority of us want to see the border closed. An equal majority support law enforcement and want to see it fully funded. We want to have the right to choose our own health insurance. If there is an amount greater than vast, that is how many of us who want to see American victims taken care of before foreigners or illegal aliens.

Kamala Harris is not qualified to lead a neighborhood watch group, let alone the greatest, most powerful nation on earth. She has done nothing to earn the votes of the American people. Nearly every policy decision made in the last 4 years has had a deleterious effect on the American people. In an interview on The View, she was asked, “If anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past 4 years?” Her response was dumbfounding. She said, “There is not a thing that comes to mind. And I’ve been part of most of the decisions that have had impact.” Are you still undecided? Let me ask you a hypothetical. You hire a tree company to remove a large tree from your yard. They cut it down, but the logs fell on your parked car. Four years later you have another large tree that needs removing. Are you going to hire the same company that botched the last job? Are you even going to give them a chance to bid on the job? Apparently 20% of us would. I hope the other 80% of us will make the effort to hire a different, more qualified, candidate. Our children and grandchildren’s freedom may depend on our not making the same mistake twice. This time we, and our children/grandchildren, may be in the car.

Thank you for taking the time to read my words of wisdom. I hope you found them interesting and informative. If so, please share them with your family and friends. The election is less than a month away. Bob

Nothing offensive in there, Bob. Hurricane Milton has happened since you wrote this and Governor DeSantis has shown the world what real leadership looks like. Gratefully, my home did not have any damage per the reports given to me so I’ll confirm for myself in 3 days. The Gulf Coast on the beaches did not fare as well.

      Vicki,
I know you will make a good decision as to when to go to Florida. After Helene, we sent a message to our realtor about the status of the house we rent. We haven’t heard anything from him yet. Our trip to the Sunshine State may not happen this year. We’ll be fine either way. Bob

      Charlie,
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my thoughts. This is the most consequential election of our lives. If we muck this up, our children and grandchildren may never enjoy the freedom that we enjoyed. I trust that your silence concerning Jamie, and you, is a good thing. Please give her my love, Bob
